THE DAKOIT WEEKLY SPECULATION HIT LIST(November 20th 2013)!!
Hi Everyone,

Hope everyone is having a great Movember. Instead of a ‘stache I’ve been sporting a beard for about 2 months. I like it, I like it ahlohht. 🙂

In my constant quest to get you the most recent speculator info (In addition to my weekly in-depth blog columns) I thought I’d start a rapid post, and shoot out some recent books worth grabbing cheap if you can find them. Here are some Dakoit quick picks to grab at the store this week, some are older and some are new!

1. Harley Quinn #0 (DC)
Release date: November 20th 2013
Why? It’s Harley, and it’s her 2nd ongoing series with #0. By Amanda Conner and Darwyn Cooke. Harley Quinn is the hottest female character in DC and possibly comics right now. Enough said.

2. Voice In The Dark #1 (Image) OR Voice In The Dark #1 ( Gimp Comics)
Releasing: November 20th 2013
Why? Getting a lot of attention. Sold out at distributor level even before release. Promises to be a great horror thriller. MY SUGGESTION: get the Gimp Comics Imprint, its limited to only a 1000 copies from kickstarter (selling for about $20 on Ebay). If this comic heats up, that version will explode.

Voice in the Dark #1 Sold out before next Wednesday’s release

3. Ben 10 #1 (IDW)
Releasing: November 20th 2013
Why? Another extremely popular cartoon based comic. Low print run (IDW), close to selling out. With other comics- My Little Pony, Adventure Time wildly successful, could this be next?

4. Absolute Vertigo (Vertigo/DC)
Released Date: January 1st 1995
Why? Preacher coming to TV! Sony pictures and Breaking Bad writer (AMC)!! Preacher #1 has already gone through the roof (>$100), so why not get Preacher’s first appearance with this little obscure book?

I’m pretty sure, Harley Quinn #0 will sell out with the great creators behind this issue. I see a price bump for sure…around $8-10 bucks.
Voice In The Dark #1 is the real toss-up this week. With hype surrounding the series transition from kickstarter and its sell-out already before it hit stands, it has already set off the speculator radar. I actually bought the Gimp imprint version for about $17 plus shipping two days ago, and now I see none on EBay (other than one selling for $100). If you can somehow find one at another site, grab it, it’s worth a chance.

Ben 10#1 a nice grab if you have extra cash this week. I don’t see a huge demand for this book in the long run, there is no cult following like with My Little Pony (Bronies?) but low print run could create interest, should settle to about $5-10 bucks.

As for Absolute Vertigo #1, its obviously a no-brainer. With other AMC shows becoming critical darlings and world wide phenomenons (and first issues hitting $2000…I’m sure everyone knows which) why not take a stab at this comic? I was going to list Preacher #1, but its not a comic for budget speculators anymore…its way past that (see above). Grab Absolute Vertigo#1 if you can find it anywhere, try some dusty Vertigo bins! I’m pretty sure many LCS owners haven’t caught on to this one yet. I just took a quick peek there is one for $40 and one on bidding at $2.75 on Ebay (as of Nov 19th 2013, 12:44 pm EST). 😉

Until next time….keep hunting my pannapictagraphists!
