Comics Picks of the week for delivery 8/12/15

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential, some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are out picks of the week for delivery 8/12/15:

This is going to be another big week. So let’s just get to it….

The Undisputed King
Walking Dead #145– Titled ‘Blood for Blood.’ Buy two. Walking Dead doesn’t even give preview blurbs for the stories anymore. Doesn’t need too. After last month no telling where this could go.

The Return of an Old Favorite
Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #1– Fans of the old Phonogram series, as well as, Wicked + Divine will want to check this out. Been a long time since the last series.

The Odd DC one
Batman #43– New Batman villain that may stick around longer than James Gordon Batman might. Sounds like a winner. There hasn’t been a really interesting new Batman Villain since the Court of the Owls storyline.

The New Image #1
Beauty #1-I like this for two reasons. First, the premise and the preview look really good. Second, if it takes off, the old Pilot Season book will be worth hunting down.

Small Press Gem
Boy-1 #1– In the fast-approaching future, when the drug-addled heir of a genetic-engineering company begins to investigate his company’s murky past, he discovers he is the catalyst in a terrifying global event that will transform him and forever alter the course of human evolution.

The Pick of the Week
Bombshells #1– Call me crazy for this Elseworlds pick but I have a hunch. The all female DC books have done well and I see this doing the same. All the male superheroes are away at war, and that means it is up to the ladies to keep the home front safe. This also means we will be getting the Bombshells versions of Poison Ivy, Harley, and all the other Femme Fatale baddies.

  1. I really wish this would be published on Tuesday of each week rather than Wednesday. Love the picks but miss out on many because I’m too late.
