Breaking News. Negan Cast on The Walking Dead

Here we go. Need to see how this effects the prices on The Walking Dead #100. Negan has been cast. Jeffery Dean Morgan will be your foul mouthed, baseball bat wielding, head cracking Negan.

Negan, of course, first appeared in The Walking Dead #100, there was also a smaller print run 2nd Print, another small print run 3rd Print, the somewhat expensive Lucille Variant, and the more affordable SDCC Retailers Variant.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is about to go from Good to really, really, really bad.

Sources confirm that the current Good Wife actor is joining The Walking Dead as one of the Biggest Bads of ’em all — dreaded comic book villain Negan.

Last month, The Walking Dead issued a casting notice for the role of “Orin,” an imposing, charismatic, brutal, frightening, ferocious and hilarious sociopath in his 30s to mid-40s that is both a leader (and killer) of men. When asked if “Orin” is actually “Negan,” showrunner Scott M. Gimple told me, “I can neither confirm nor deny,” before cheekily adding, “It’s not the worst guess in the world. It’s difficult to get around your logic here.”

  1. WD 100 cover a first prints with him on the cover is going to shoot up as well. There were a ton of variants but first prints do very well.

    1. When the 2nd prints run dry, people will seek these out most likely but with 300k or so out in the wild, they are plenty available for the 1st print regular cover with his face blacked out. When he arrives on the show and sticks around as villain and then possibly more in later episodes/seasons, this will no doubt dry up and come further into demand.

      1. there aren’t 300k of the outline of Negan…there are 300k of all the variants which I think there were about 10 different ones. So that makes maybe 30-35k of the Negan cover.

        1. True, I spoke too fast in my explanation. There was actually a print run of 379,000 for #100 1st prints.

I believe there was actually 9 covers divided evenly, the 10th was the special Adlard Wrap Around Black and White limited to 200. So that puts the numbers of each to around 42k each on 1st prints.

Still one has to consider the 3rd print as well, which shows half his face with Lucille.

I’d also imagine a lot of fans of the show seeking these out won’t know what to pick up and likely just go for the regular cover as well. Only time and demand will tell.. 😉

    1. They have been casting very well. The only person I didn’t really like that could of been cast better was Andrea, so I’m glad she died in the show, got tired of her.

  2. Dude thanks for the post!!! I love this site.

I bought a 1st print last week for $21. The second prints were cheaper then, in the $10-15 range.
I snagged a couple 2nd prints for about $20 each today. Now 2nd prints are at least $35 with shipping. Kicking myself for not getting some 2nd prints last week.

I’m curious what people think the value of the 1st and 2nd prints will be after Negan makes his appearance on the show.

    Thanks.

  3. Midtown has a few of the 1st print covers for under $4…I picked up 2 of each of the ones they have. Of all the first print covers I would think cover A would be the most sought out since it is Negan on the cover.

  4. Most of the entertainment news websites are showing the picture of the 2nd printing cover, makes sense since it’s the one where his face is shown completely. I think that’s the one the non-collectors will seek out. Who can blame them, it’s a killer cover
