Rebirth seems to be doing pretty well. The DC Universe Rebirth #1 issue is still selling for 2-3 times cover. There have been some surprises in the recent launches, in what had been an otherwise quiet week. Batman Rebirth #1 has a new character, possibly Lark, and Superman had the Owl’s aircraft hovering above the city.
Speaking of surprises, the prices of both books are doing ok on the secondary market, worth looking out for an extra copy or two. The regular Batman Rebirth #1 is selling steadily for $7.99 and as high as $12, while the Variant
is selling for between $6 and $12 (with free shipping).
Superman Rebirth #1 is selling a little differently, it is averaging $6-12 but the Variant
is only selling for $1 more than cover. The regular cover is definitely the one to grab if you haven’t already.
Both books have sold out at the distributor level, Superman Rebirth #1 2nd Print and Batman Rebirth #1 2nd Print hit shops on June 29.

I read all the rebirth #1’s released so far this weekend and have to say I wasn’t overly impressed. For me the way I’d rank them was Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Batman and Superman. Batman and Arrow could easily swap places. I’m waiting for Batman #1 and hope it’s better, but I’d say I’m looking more forward to seeing what Flash and Wonder Woman have to offer.
Wonder Woman Artgerm variant and Flash 1 Regular (1st Godspeed) are the ones to get this week. Wouldn’t overlook Action 957 or Detective 934 either with the return of legacy numbering.
Omg just saw NewsRama give a preview to Wonder Woman Rebirth 1 and The Art Looks Horrible, Diana looks like a She-Male in the worst way possible, And this is suppose to be Sold Out? They can keep it with Art like this. Damn It, Bring Back Jason Fabok!
The writing on Flash is good but the art is weak on it as well.

I just viewed it.. I’ve seen worse. I try to limit my criticism on artwork though.. simply because even when it’s horrible, most if not all people who don’t do art for a living have zero drawing or painting skills.. so you still have to give someone a little bit of credit for getting their work published. I try to use the phrase “art just isn’t my own style of liking” when I really don’t like the artwork in a given book.
And Wonder Woman is suppose to be this Amazonian Princess Warrior.. not a Victoria Secret Model.. her muscles are suppose to be bigger than yours. 😉
Yeah, art is subjective. Thing is with comics you can have a solid story, and the art can be poor or “amateur” (for lack of a better word) and the comic will still stand on its writing. Look at the Dark Knight Returns (or any of Frank Millers stuff) back in the day there wasn’t anything like it. It was crude, messy, and looked like the scribbles of a mad man. It also didn’t look like anything that was being put out by mainstream companies.
I went to art school for a little while so I guess I’m a bit of an art snob when it comes to comics. I appreciate something new and different but usually only in one shots or small, small, doses. I prefer my superheros all big and exaggerated because they are supposed to be larger than life and heroic. McGuinness, McFarlane, Jim Lee, J Scott Campbell. I don’t read a lot of Marvel cause the ultra realistic art just turns me off. I loved the Ultimate Universe years ago, but the current marvel stuff is mostly meh. I hope DC isn’t drifting that way, but it kind of looks like they are.
I’m also a fan of Darwyn Cooke, Bruce Timm and Tim Sale. Those guys aren’t exactly traditional or heroic exaggerated either. So I guess at the end of the day it’s whatever you like to look at.
Midtown has Batman Rebirth #1 listed again, 1 per customer.. grab’em while you can, probably be gone in a flash..
Why? Is it cause people like 1st print better Then 2nd print? I mean the print run is so huge on these comics i dont what all the fuss is about every store ive been to has them in stock its not sold out any of my stores
All of my local shops are sold out. All of them sold out last Wednesday in fact. One even sold out within first 15 minutes of opening.
Supply, demand, location, how many a shop ordered.. all kinds of factors to consider. Sometimes Anthony texts me that he has plenty to choose from on a given title where none of the shops in my area have it or are sold out..
And sometimes Poyo texts me pictures of hens running around the barn yard. Just saying.
Someone’s gotta keep the ladies in line…. 🙂
There is a difference between sold out at the distributor level, which is what we talk about, and being sold out at stores. Books that sell out at the distributor level cannot be reordered. Stores could still have copies.
But im noticing more places are sold out of green arrow then batman, so wouldbt green arrow be the book to hunt down for?
There are certainly more Batman readers than Green Arrow readers. Shops will always likely order more Batman versus Green Arrow. Sure Green Arrow is a smaller print run but remember, that is a small factor to the value of a book….. demand is the sole driving force behind value.

I read Green Arrow this weekend and thought it was okay. I thought it was one of the better ones. But, it also sort of read as a millennial anti establishment love letter. It wasn’t over the top, but the undertones were there. A lot of people don’t want in your face social or political commentary in their books. It could kill it for the wrong reasons. I was just in my local LCS and all the rebirth titles are sold out. They blew through their copies.
