Malignant Man (Boom Studios) Picks Up a Director

Thanks to Brian S. for sending this tip over (and to Alana as well.)
We reported on Malignant Man getting optioned for a movie back in February 2015. Malignant Man was picked up as part of a first look deal Boom had struck, which included the already released Two Guns. Hollywood reporter has noted that the movie now has a director, which I hear is important to the movie making process. They also reported on a few other titles already announced as optioned.
From Hollywood Reporter

San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton has come aboard to direct Malignant Man, a sci-fi/action project being produced by James Wan, who is coming off the strong opening of his horror sequel The Conjuring 2.
Malignant Man is set up at Fox and based on a Boom! Studios comic that Wan co-created. Boom!’s Ross Richie and Stephen Christy are producing with Wan, who is working via his Atomic Monster label. Peyton also will produce.
The story focuses on Alex Gates, a patient dying of a terminal disease who is resigned to his fate … until he discovers that his malignant tumor is actually a mysterious alien parasite. Now with some incredible powers and a renewed purpose, Gates is tasked with fighting a secret army lurking behind the veils of society while also peeling back his own secrets.
Zak Olkewicz wrote the script for the adaptation.

The first issue of Malignant Man started selling again today after a period of stagnation following the initial news of the option. Sets of the book are up starting at $19.99 and going up from there. Hollywood Reporter also noted that The Empty Man is in pre-production. Copies of the Cullen Bunn penned horror title can be found for as little as $4, and was a pick of the week a long time back.
It was also reported that Adam McKay recently came on board to develop and direct an adaptation of its comic Irredeemable. There are several different covers for the first issue, so prices on this one are all over the place.
