The Diamond Comics Advance Reorder List is a great speculator tool. It shows what books retailers are going back to get more of, in advance of their release. They are actually putting their money up betting these books get big. These are the books people are talking about in shops, message boards, and websites. Here is the Diamond Comics Advance for 6/20/16:

Well, DC does seem to be doing nicely with their Rebirth. They take up 13 of the 25 top reordered items. Marvel reprints hit the list as well. Captain America #1 (we saw this one before) and Punisher #2 going back to press again. No indies other than The Walking Dead. Also, Civil War II #3 gets a midnight release variant…. Interesting that Amazing Spider-Man also gets a “death of x” variant. I know the odds makers are saying Mary Jane dies, but the solicitation for issue 3 is a “major hero” dies… Could this be the current Spider-man?

  1. Midtown has Suicide Squad #1 “sold out” on their pre order page. DC relaunch is HUGE. Can’t wait to see what I get “shorted” on this week…. kidding aside Suicide #1 drops in August and it’s already being listed as “sold out”? What is going on? Is it really new blood or just heavy speculation?

    1. Midtown’s order cut-off date is usually earlier than other websites, so it’s possible that their pre-order period for it has ended, and that they’ve already blown through all of the copies they’d ordered for themselves (non-reserved copies), so they are now completely sold out. Does anyone know if Midtown has an earlier order cut-off date with Diamond than other retailers; or do they just personally choose to end their pre-orders sooner than other sites? Chances are when things shake out, they will still end up with copies available when the book is released; just that they won’t be making them available until then.
