Poyo's Picks of the Week for November 9th, 2016

It’s election night here in America, where Americans will pick their next leader, so we can start the election campaign cycle all over again almost immediately after it’s over. So instead of tuning into that political mud flinging arena, let’s talk comics, cause tomorrow is, new comic book Wednesday, something better to celebrate.
So let’s get on with the picks, my picks, sometimes dead on..
DC/Vertigo Pick
Mother Panic #1 (DC) – “Meet Violet Paige, a celebutante with a bad attitude and a temper to match, who no one suspects of having anything lying beneath the surface of her outrageous exploits. But Violet isn’t just another bored heiress in the upper echelons of Gotham City’s elite. Motivated by her traumatic youth, Violet seeks to exact vengeance on her privileged peers as the terrifying new vigilante known only as Mother Panic.”
I’m pretty sure Tony is all over the Paul Pope variant for this one.
Marvel Pick
Captain America Steve Rogers #7 (Marvel) Cover A Stephanie Hans Variant – I could pick Invincible Iron Man #1 but shouldn’t it be called Iron Heart? I’m not buying it, sure she’s a new character, well, not really, new face, same suit. I’m picking Captain America though, I just love this cover. Let’s hope it’s a great read as well with a description like this “Steve opens a door, and the secret behind it will shake the Marvel Universe to its core.”
Indie Spec of the Week
Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #1 (IDW) – The classic Batman Animated Series and TMNT Nickelodeon collide in a new mini-series. Sign me up. Midtown even has every cover a minimum 1 per customer. Batman fans and TMNT fans will be seeking these out for years to come.
I got some honorable mentions as well this week, a few returning new favorites. Cannibal #2, which #1 was an awesome read. So definitely looking forward to #2. Green Valley #2 hits stands as well, which #1 was nothing ground breaking on story telling, a very classic type of tale, a warriors love is killed so revenge must be sought.. I loved the first issue, so definitely looking forward to #2. Frank Barbiere has a new title out from Image called Violent Love. That’s a definite title to check out as I love Barbiere’s work (where the fu… I mean heck is our Five Ghosts Frank? I miss Five Ghosts… bring it back already!)
I could list more but what would be the point in picking a books, I could just say.. go pick them all up and read. That would be no fun though.
That’s it folks, leave your comments here or forever hold your peace, even the rude comments are welcome.. something dammit, let us know what you’re spec’ing on or buying this Wednesday.

  1. shake the Marvel universe?
    Hardly.
It’s cool, but Steve’s memories have been re-written so anything goes, right?
Steve & “H_____ ___o” have been best buddies since grade school is the “shocker”
I love this storyline. Hail Hydra has delivered fun, & controversy.
