Love is Love First Prints appearing in UK Stores

Thanks to Barry W. for sending over the pictures.
I have received several emails from people over in the UK about the re-stickered first prints appearing in shops in the UK. The books have stickers with new bar codes over the incorrect bar codes (which we mentioned when the press release came out) and the first page does not have the “SECOND PRINT” on it. Check it out below:
The first prints have recently recorded sales of $29.99 and $39.99

  1. I noticed in one of the pics that the books were printed in Canada. The printing place is like an 8 hour drive for me and I got 3 2nd prints. How did the firsts end up in Britain, and not in North America? Lucky blokes.

  2. So, I’m wondering about this mess they created; since the first copies in people’s hands were labeled as “second prints”….and now this “new” copy does not have a second printing label on it, but has a sticker with a different bar code, my question is if the “second printing” labeled book is actually the first print….and this new book copy (with the sticker) would be the actual second printing? So weird how this has come about. Wonder how it will shake out….

    1. As I replied to Ric, they were sent to the UK at the same time the rest of you got the second print version, so were in hand at the same time as those prints. They didn’t come out after, subsequently, later etc. so aren’t copies or anything else. Which says to me these that they are the true first prints.
I’m trying to apply objectivity here, as I do have these copies in hand and I don’t want people to think I’m being a dick about this, but I can’t see any other logical conclusion. But then again when do markets ever show logic?!

      1. I think this is more of a “printing” type logic. My dad was in printing for almost 30 years and some of the things he explained to me made absolutely no sense, but on their level it likely made complete sense.
We have to also remember, prints, whether its 1st, 2nd, 3rd and beyond are just a way for the publishers and printers to track such printings. It makes no difference to these people outside of that since they are selling them at the same cost no matter. It’s the secondary after market that these things matter and only matter when collectors turn paper with ink on them into value through demand.

    1. I picked up my copies from a LCS called Dave’s Comics in Brighton. I called them on Friday 30th to see if they had any copies left, they did and put them by for me. So they must have had them for new comic day that week, before all the stuff about restickered prints was made public.

  3. Well I see it as it is what it is. 1st print, 2nd print, etc. They all go to a good cause. I am ordering another one for my PC from my LCS. It will be a 3rd print most likely. It’s all good in the end.
