February’s Image Comics Variants Pay Tribute to Iconic Image Covers

Image Comics is thrilled to reveal the first 11 of 15 homage variants planned for February’s 25th anniversary theme month—“tribute covers” celebrating iconic cover images from throughout the company’s history.
Each month of Image’s 25th year will boast a theme for special anniversary variants, beginning with Wednesday, February 1st—the exact date of Image Comics’ founding in 1992, and the date of this year’s “Image Comics Day.”
“One of the great things about celebrating our 25th anniversary is that it creates an opportunity for us to look back at over two decades of history-making comics and showcase some of the wonderful work that made Image what it is today,” said Eric Stephenson, Publisher at Image Comics.
“Everyone in the Image family is a fan at heart, and this month’s tribute variants give the participating creators a chance to show their admiration for some of comics’ greatest creator-owned triumphs by putting their own unique spin on classic images from that rich and varied past for a collection of covers as fun as they are stunning.”

  1. Problem with this is that the order cut off date for those months is way passed so my and other LCSs will have zero copies. I had to specially order the Deadly Class one.

  2. The Walking Dead one and the kill or be killed are the 2 that I am going for. Hopefully I don’t have a long day at work where I can stop by and pick them up. And I feel u on the cut off date. My LCS has this new policy that if u didn’t put a book u wanted on ur previews papers, u won’t get it. And if u want a book, u have to wait till Thursday for him to put it in your pull or if not then stop by on Wednesday. And also cuz Marvel sales where low last year, the new variants are going to be more $ and harder to get. At least from what he told me lol.

    1. Well if u don’t have previews your ordering blind. If you do, then u get what u want. One of the reasons he is doing it is because a lot of people didn’t get there books within the 1 month time frame and they dipped on him after having stacks of books. So for him not to have extra inventory, he is just ordering what people want and little extra for those that don’t have a pull list. Kinda BS but I get why he is doing it.

  3. Franly, these are not very good, except for the Invincible homage (hah!) to Wildcats and the Wicked & Divine’s to Sex Criminals #1 (fourth printing). That last one is the only must-have here.
(I love Revival, but that cover is particularly terrible).

  4. I have had East of West in my pullbox since the beginning, but I am not feeling that cover. The best ones I see so far are TWD and Kill or be Killed.

  5. I’m liking the Kill or be Killed and Walking Dead the most, which are two of my regular pick ups, but will probably have to hunt for the variants. Quite partial to the God Country too, purely for the memories of the first days of Image when I was a mere young man of 23!!
