  1. I’ve seen online a lot of talk about how this book is supposedly a political allegory–with the funny thing being people both left-wing and right-wing have claimed it proves their points. Any clever political allegories aside, I haven’t actually seen anyone excited for this event ITSELF, just people saying how, “Captain America is secretly a Hydra agent now,” is either ingenious or horrifically stupid. I myself think it was an odd thing to do–even with the excuse of it being a cosmic cube–and frankly haven’t read any solo-comics featuring Captain America since Ed Brubaker’s time on the book. This is my long-winded way of asking, is anyone actually interested in the event, or just how it proves their political point (with again, the irony being I’ve seen liberal and conservative people saying it is for or against them).

      1. It won’t be variants that kill the comics industry, it’s gonna be shite like this! Captain America secretly an admirer of Hydra, what total tosh. Axel Alonso used to be a good editor at Vertigo and his early Marvel days, now he is promoting this tripe! Won’t be toughing it with the proverbial pole.
And with regards to the politics, I think it was fairly well established with the PP debate no-one wants politics in their comics David lol

      2. And for those who pick it up, you just know that a) McNiven will be running late by the end and any reveal will be told in a tie-in comic before the last issue is published and b) it will be back to the status quo after the “event.”
I bet comic writer’s must hate being straight jacketed by this sort of thing, it must be why the majority of best stories are written at indie and small press companies.

    1. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Marvel take a ‘right’ stance on anything so I’ll assume this will skew liberal. However….like Barry says. Please, please, please be political free. Of course I have no desire to read this either way…..

  2. Yawn. Is any body tired of these Hydra…Traitor within stories? Even in the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show it just kind of drags on.

  3. this is why dc and indy are kicking marvels butt . this is interesting that is if the old man logan part is true it incudles the x-men witch is interesting but marvel just finished civil ear 2 secret wars marvel now and has been event after event since avengers #500 blind adam out

    1. As much as I agree with you, I don’t see DC and Indie stuff kicking marvel’s butt. As much as we hate what Marvel does from time to time they still dominate the industry, and rightfully so.

      1. I must admit I don’t quite get the “rightly so” comment? They treat their readers with contempt, with all these supposed re-boots, starting with issue 1 every 18 months or so, the endless events. I am not saying DC are perfect, but they do seem to have a more coherent plan and seem to know what direction they are going with their characters and comics. And Image doing what Image does, getting a wide variety of differing genres, styles and creators out there, all within a creator owned framework. I think people just buy Marvel out of habit, because they have always done so and maybe a small part of them thinks things will improve. My opinion anyway… (I know, I always have an opinion!!)

      2. @Barry. I guess I am trying to say that Marvel does still put out some awesome stuff, and we can probably all agree that they are historically a cornerstone in to the industry. I was also considering other avenues of entertainment (movies and shows). So don’t get me wrong, as I am not knocking DC or any other publisher, because I do agree with most all the complaints that have been mentioned.

    2. @Andrew. Sorry if I came across a bit pissy with my reply to your first comment! Suffering from bad insomnia at the moment, making me a right old sour puss, so apologies.
I get what you are saying, I was purely looking at things from the comic perspective, but all would agree (I think!) that Marvel totally killing with the movies compared to DC. TV shows probably a draw? Obviously the Netflix Marvel stuff is incredible, but then DC stuff is more family friendly (although I must admit to only just even starting to watch them.)
