God Country 1 and 2 go back to print

The bestselling, breakout hit series GOD COUNTRY by Donny Cates (REDNECK) and Geoff Shaw is being rushed back to print on both issues #1 and #2 in order to keep up with overwhelming customer demand.

In GOD COUNTRY, Emmet Quinlan, an old widower rattled by dementia, isn’t just a problem for his children—his violent outbursts are more than the local cops can handle. When a tornado levels his home—as well as the surrounding West Texas town—a restored Quinlan rises from the wreckage. The enchanted sword at the eye of the storm gives him more than a sound mind and body, however. He’s now the only man who can face the otherworldly creatures the sword has drawn down to the Lone Star State…
GOD COUNTRY #1, 3rd printing (Diamond Code JAN178080), GOD COUNTRY #2, 2nd printing (Diamond Code JAN178081), GOD COUNTRY #3 Cover A by Shaw & Wordie (Diamond Code JAN170731), and Cover B by Zaffino and Wordie (Diamond Code JAN170732) will be available on Wednesday, March 15th. The final order cutoff deadline for comics retailers is Monday, February 20th.

Select praise for GOD COUNTRY:
“If this book was a gymnast it wouldn’t just stick the landing, it’d throw in a couple of extra flips and fucking shatter the Earth as it landed… If I could give God Country #1 six out of five stars I would… It’s definitely a book that you need to read, so make sure you get your LCS to order it for you, you would be a fool not to.”—Comic Bastards

“One of the most oddly satisfying action/adventure that I have ever read. It was breathtaking in a way that is impossible to explain, because it involves so much more than words. I highly suggest reading it.” —Outright Geekery

  1. I was able to find more of the 1st issue re print. I have 5 reprints and 4 original prints do you think that is a sufficient number if I can still find the 1 reprint for cover price, I get apprehensive owning so many issues of the same comic? Any thoughts on which 2nd issue is the better spec choice?

    1. Cover A almost always is the winner when a book has multiple covers that are all open order. Cover B for #2 is definitely the nicest of the 3 covers, so it will be interesting to see how it shakes out.
As for issue #1, cover A has undoubtedly pulled ahead of B and will be the one to have (although A and B are both great to have) if only able to have one or the other.
I’d be careful buying up the 3rd print of #1 though. It’s only a color change/no new art cover and people are ready for it. Supply will be greater than the demand.

      1. Covers to 1A and 2B are both reflective of something or someone in those respective issues. Its refreshing to see in an age when many book covers have zero to do with the content inside. Issue 1, 2nd print, will also have a following due to the relative scarcity and new cover image. There is a small but growing segment of collectors that seek books like these. No matter, if you haven’t read the books, pick them up now. Worth buying for the conversations alone….plus the art is very, very good imo 😉

      2. Yeah, in most cases for 3rd or 4th prints and beyond, that’s when I buy a single copy for the collection. But sometimes prints beyond the 2nd heat up.. but like you said, I agree most are usually prepared and they’re ordered more heavily.

    2. I got one of each of the three #2 covers. If you feel uncomfortable with that many sell one or two of each to make your money back and then the rest are free.

    1. Today I traveled a few towns over to go check out some shops I’ve never been to before. Nothing special, picked up Deathstroke: Terminator #8, a couple Deadpool True Believers, Hillbilly #1-#3, Uncanny XMen #316 & #317. The big find was 4 copies of God Country #1 2nd. I grabbed the 3 that were mint copies. The fourth stayed on the rack as it had some scuffing on the cover.
