From Comicbook.com:

Tonight, a select few fans will get to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 shortly ahead of its U.S. premiere. The long-awaited film will see heroes like Star-Lord and Gamora team up to save the galaxy yet again when new threats make themselves known to the ragtag team. Ahead of the special screening, it appears that Marvel Studio has released production notes for Guardians, and social media raked over the publication to find a few gems. And, naturally, one of those nuggets has given fans a heads-up about who Sylvester Stallone will play in the film.
Over on Twitter, @StitchKingdom discovered Stallone’s role was referenced directly in the film’s production notes. You can check out details about the character below; That is, if you don’t mind a few massive spoilers.
“A lifelong respected Ravager, Stakar isn’t fond of Yondu. Sylvester Stallone offers the character’s backstory: “Stakar had banished Yondu many years earlier for doing something wrong and he finally sees him almost twenty years later at this particular establishment called the Iron Lotus where all of the Ravagers go to blow off steam. And then we have a confrontation which is pretty intense and it’s kind of a father/son type of thing and now he’s going to have to pay the piper. His karma has come back ten-fold.”
If the name Stakar sounds familiar to you, don’t worry – it is meant to. In the comics, Stakar is better known as Starhawk, and he is a major player in the intergalactic series.

  1. Hmmm…More high profile actors playing C list characters… That’s not a bad thing at all, but may not be a long term spec piece unless he is in more Marvel movies or takes a higher profile in the comics. Regardless, I was able to pick up a higher grade set (prob VF+) for just under $70. Not overpriced but not the deal of the century either. Will probably keep these for the permanent collection seeing the Defenders will be getting big with Netflix (that’s still happening right?) and of course these books with GotG connection. If these books pick up tons of steam in the coming weeks maybe I will let them go, but I don’t think there will be huge spike in price… a short burst upward sure, just nothing sky high. I could be wrong of course but not feeling anything ground breaking with them. Anyway, always nice to have higher grade bronze, especially keys or semi-keys.

  2. Yes! I actually have these! It’s not often for me that things in my old boxes suddenly pick up steam. Time to go digging!!

    1. LOL, yeah it’s a great feeling when you read all the buzz about something then realize you have what’s getting hot and don’t have to worry about hunting them down at a good price! Tell me this, are they at least good reads??? Always better when they are fun to read!

      1. It is a good read! The comics from this era are so trippy, the storylines actually work in a weird way for something like GOTG.
