Comics Picks of the Week for Delivery 5/3/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 4/26/17:

Rather small week this week, for me at least, but still some heavy hitter books.
Returning Favorites
Batman #22  – This Button storyline has been fantastic and just keeps getting better
Paper Girls #14 – Great read from BKV. The mystery keeps getting deeper.
Harley Quinn #19 Frank Cho Variant-I love Frank Cho’s funny covers as much as his cheekier covers. These are good grabs at $2.99
The One With the Walking And The Dead
Walking Dead #167– Will have the spoilers up soon, but this is the brutal story we wanted to see.
Small Press Gem
Croak #1 – This is one of the newsprint books from Alternative. Looks cool. For a buck-fifty don’t think you can go wrong.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Stained #1 Jock Variant – This is a small press book with a heavy hitter cover. Grab one of each but look for the Jock Cover. This book is sold out everywhere. Another pick from the New Comic Spec Review Video, are you guys checking those out?
Pick of the Week
Pestilence #1 – What can I say, I told you in this weeks Comic Book Spec Review that this was going to be a good one. Sold out everywhere. Going to be hard to find with a small print run. There are a few copies on the link in the title, but are you seeing what Pestilence #1 is doing on eBay?

Here is the New Comic Spec Review Video in case you missed it.

  1. I’m curious to see how the newsprint books do. I ordered croak and and am pretty excited to pay a buck fifty for it. I do like my quality paper though. I like the feel of books like Kill or Be Killed for example. We’ll see if my cheap side wins or my snobby quality side.

  2. I ordered all of the newsprint books. Couldnt pass up on the price and the nostalgia. I also snagged Pestilence which is getting hard to find. Going to Preorder issue #2.
