New Comic Spec Review Video for 5/10/17

Every weekend, Anthony (me) from comicsheatingup.net and Terry Hoknes do a video where we discuss the hot new books for the week. Some weeks we agree, others we don’t. Here is this weeks for delivery on 5/10/17:

  1. Love the videos, guys. A great heads up for the coming Wednesday. I really like that Sienkiewicz OML cover. On a side note, I was reading on the Syfy app that Hasbro had a fan contest to vote for a character that did not have a figurine, that fans wanted to see in toy form. The winner was…Dr. Aphra. So, Aphra will be coming out in a 3 3/4 action figure soon. Good news for Vader #3.

  2. Great video. I am getting all start batman #10. Hoping to get at least 4 copies and couple of copies of regression. Can’t go wrong with Cullin Bunn.

    1. I like Grave lillies. The premise is good. But for spec, look at Empty Man which I had as a pick of the week a long time ago which did nothing until the announcement was made on the media deal. Low print run on both that could lead to it being hard to find if optioned.

      1. Too true—you are exactly right. I just found it odd that no one ever mentioned Grave Lilies….at all!

        1. I don’t know if anyone really paid any attention to it. The thing of it is people always talk about the wins and not the losses or yet to wins.

    1. Lol. I saw the shirt recently and having a last name of Hammock that I often just abbreviate to Hamm (call Joe, Joe Hamm and my younger son Sam Hamm all the time) I had to pick it up. Yes, I love regional cheap beer and Hamms is a favorite. Can’t drink natty boh all the time.

  3. Lone Star Beer is really good cheap beer, in all honesty. There is one store, where I live in Ohio, that carries it.
Back to Hamms, I used to drink it for the cool factor in my twenties and it always left me vomiting by the end of the night, sadly. My friends and I prided ourselves for drinking the cheapest swill available.

    1. Try Natty Boh. The tag line is “Proud to Say, Brewed on the Shores of the Chesapeake Bay” but as anyone who has grown up on the Chesapeake like I have knows, don’t drink the bay water.
