Image Announces Next 25th Anniversary Variants, Pride month.

100% OF IMAGE COMICS’ PRIDE MONTH 25TH ANNIVERSARY VARIANT COVER PROCEEDS TO GO TO HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN
Image Comics is pleased to reveal the first six of eleven variants planned for June’s 25th anniversary theme—“Pride Month.” The variants will serve to celebrate the LGBTQ community and the progress made by the Gay Liberation Movement in promoting inclusivity and support for all. 100% of the proceeds made from these June Pride variant covers will be donated to Human Rights Campaign.

“We are so thankful for the opportunity to support the LGBTQ community during Pride Month this year by partnering once again with the Human Rights Campaign,” said Eric Stephenson, Publisher at Image Comics. “It’s never been a secret that Image Comics is supportive of creative freedom, but it’s important that we also make it clear that we stand for inclusivity, diversity, and equality, now more than ever. We hope these variants will serve as a positive display of that ongoing commitment.”
Each month of Image’s 25th year will boast a theme for special anniversary variants.

  1. Hmmm, how to give an opinion on this without sounding like a villain… Just getting tired of media and the entertainment industry in general forcing what I consider their personal views on their consumers bases and potential consumer bases (my opinion)… Of course I don’t have to buy any of these and that is my right and they have every right in the world to produce these..at least the United States and the free world… but this kind of pandering is so prominent these days. Just want a break from political/social commentary and posturing for a little while. Doubt I will get it, but it sure would be nice.

    1. I don’t consider it forcing per se but I know what you mean. I just want some cool comics to read, collect and or possibly sell, etc. I’m all for people carrying their pride but yeah, it does seem at times it’s kind of shoved in people’s faces when it shouldn’t necessarily be.
For the record, my mom is gay and there’s nothing wrong with being gay (thankfully she realized this after having me but if you’d ever met my dad, he’d turn most women into a lesbian I think). All power to you what you do with your life, do what makes you happy I say. Your race, gender, religion, weight.. and who you choose to have sex with behind closed doors, they do not affect me directly and never will.
But I’m with you OC_Guy.. it does seem a bit much at times. It’s not that I think it’s not important for diversity and pride, it just seems like it is pushed too much by the media, corporations, etc when it really shouldn’t be.

      1. Thanks Poyo, well said…Very much just trying to voice my opinion without stepping on anyone’s toes … I like this site and how it is very civil. Don’t ever want to see it truing into what so many others have become with constant trolling and such.

        1. I have never seen you as a troll. Everybody has a right to voice their opinion’s with her for her against anything on the site. Others have a right to disagree as long as everybody remain civil it’s well worth having the discussion.

    2. Thanks Anthony… I think there may have been a couple of occasions where I may have gotten moody, but I do try not to go overboard.

    3. You will get that until there is actual change in the society. As long as there is rampant inequity in our society, then there will be advocacy for equity. I did notice how you contradicted yourself by stating that this is being forced upon you, yet you also state immediately after that you don’t need to buy them. It doesn’t seem like that much ‘force’, if you have an option. I do see your point, but you mentioned the very solution to your supposed problem. That within itself seems redundant to even complain about it in the first place. Jus’ sayin.

      1. When i say ‘you will get that…’, I’m referring to corporate marketing geared towards diversity and such.

      2. Hello JayClue….I don’t see it as a contradiction at all…By “forcing” I don’t mean that Image or any media is literally coming to my house and making me purchase anything. I am just pointing out that many aspects of entertainment industry and media have their own agenda and by publishing that agenda to the masses in my opinion, pretty much non stop for years now, is counter productive since it is getting to the point of annoyance. Again, they have every right to do whatever they want but I have every right to say I am getting a little fed up with the constant preaching. I know I am not the only one who feels that way. I do need to point out that just because some people are getting fed up with all this media pandering and overdone “pc” campaigning it doesn’t make them bigoted or racist or even hateful…It is just a little too much all at once.

        1. Let it be known that I am not a fan of corporate sponsership of anything. I just dont think this type of advertising is part of some agenda by corporations. I believe it is the corporations taking advantage of a particular political movement or climate. The inequity and equal rights issues are big amongst the greater consuming population and products which are commercially geared towards the people who are passionate about the socioeconomic climate of their country, seem to sell. I stand up for what I believe in, and I certainly am not influenced by, or support any big company who packages their product with some sort of special interest groups agenda, whether I support that cause or not. I see the two as exclusive. The cause is the cause, and the product is the product. I just dont see the point in being upset or tired with a corporations marketing strategy. Especially ones that you have 100% choice to avoid. Im not implying your a bigot or hate filled or sexist, and I am as anti PC as one can get. I just see it as a half empty attitude.

    4. You sound triggered snowflake. Do you need a safe place to hide until all the big bad gay covers are gone? 🙂 Seriously dude you sound like a villain. A company wants to do something nice for a community that is clearly looked down upon in America, and you can’t handle it. Sounds like you are part of the reason we need covers like this.

      1. Jay….All I can say internet toughguy is you wouldn’t say that garbage to my face. I guarantee it…Nuff said.

      2. Using that logic, ” a community that is clearly looked down upon in America ” then we can expect to see a month of White Conservative Male covers?

      1. I like the WD cover but I’m not a big Sina Grace fan.. just something about his art I don’t like. If it was done by someone else.. it’d be even better.
I like the Redneck cover.. it’s just funny. If I was a vampire queer.. I would totally wear that shirt!

  2. I like TWD cover the best, the Redneck isn’t that bad any time you can get cussing on the cover I’m all for it.

  3. It’s ok to have an opinion on the subject for or against. OC_guy, I know you are not being trolling or attacking me for posting a news story. I respect your right to feel and say what you please and feel that it was done in a respectful way. Jay I don’t think that OC is being “a snowflake” because he doesn’t agree with something. He and Poyo have two very different opinions on the topic but we’re respectful to each other. They agree to disagree. And that is ok. Oc’s point is he just doesn’t see the need for it to be pushed, that’s how he feels. Others feel that it is fine and not too much. Difference of opinion. Not wrong not right but just how he feels. I have never known OC guy come on here and attack, but just express his viewpoint.

  4. I think we have to look at this in context. Most LGBT have lived in silence have been forced to live under the radar. In the last 20 years we have found a voice, look at me i just came out on here.
Lots of people are accepting, many are not. Its education. This is just another step. We need to get over this and move on. Ive never seen anything on this site that has made me angry and i truly thank you all for that because on other sites its like a viscous nasty schoolyard. Now… anyone need a hug ? (Its ok i live in the UK, its never gonna happen !)

    1. Hi Ric, thanks for having the courage of coming out on here. Not sure if you are out in general or just did it on here. I think there is always room for opposing opinions and as long as the conversation is civil there is a need and room for it. I don’t think anyone on here will look at you any different tonight than they did before. CHU is a brotherhood and sisterhood, all encompassing, of people who like comics. Many different races, genders, orientations, whatever… It is about comics and anyone who wants to talk, bitch, complain, praise, promote, or read about comics (and if you read the open forum comments today, all those about Canada too (milk in a bag, come on)) are welcome here. I am glad you have always felt welcomed, and that we could foster an atmosphere where any view point is welcome as long as it is tactful, and as you said, not a nasty school yard vibe.

  5. I am assuming Saga & Wicked + Divine are not included because they have no issue released this month? Saga rarely has variants, but this would have been a theme month for them to let that slide; and Wicked + Divine has been doing theme months so it would be odd for them to sit this one out.
