    1. Have a few of these already, but managed to pick up four NM copies for $17 with shipping. I’m sure there will be a spike when DP#2 is released and another spike when they do an X-force movie, but there were so many of these made I am wondering what the ceiling might be?

    2. Well, looks like Milehigh has gotten wind of the announcement because they now have NM copies of #99 listed at $63…before the “secret” code word sale of course. Pretty sure they can still be found in the wild for $5 to $10 though.

  1. Another week another Wednesday open forum. Hope everyone had a successful FCBD 2017.
I only hit one shop this year due to time constraints but it was worth it. Grabbed some boxes, but more importantly I grabbed the Redneck #1 siover foil variant for, get this, $8 CAD! Yowza!
    Here’s my FCBD haul:

        1. No that is Peso to Dollar. I don’t remember who is winning the currency war between US and Canada. All I know is never trust a country with coins instead of dollar bills. Making it rain hurts in Canada when you throw all the Loonies and Toonies up in the air

        2. Yeah, I worded that wrong. I was trying to imply you all’s inflation is crazy.. I liked converting my USD to CAD when I visited.. I felt rich.. then when I came back and converted whatever I had left to USD I felt as if I was getting ripped off…

      1. Tony, we don’t make it rain, we make it hail!
And that is why our strippers are covered in welts….I’ve heard.

        1. Shoot.. I’m willing to bet strippers carry those card readers on their smart phones nowadays.. no need for cash nowadays!

      2. It’s great for us Canucks who sell books to Americans. I list a book at $10 US and that converts to nearly $14 CDN. I’m rich, biatch! The standard mark up, in Canada, for new comics is $1 a book. So, those $2.99 DC titles cost us $3.99, Marvel $4.99 costs us $5.99 new, so on and so forth. I’m lucky my LCS gives me 20% off new comics that I buy on Wednesdays. It nicely balances out the dollar for me. The one caveat being that the 20% discount is actually store credit that I receive to be spent on back issues or TPBs only. I still works out nicely as most of the back issues I buy from there, I flip, so I get ‘free’ back issues with 130%+ profit value when I flip it. (100% because the back issue was free, then 30%+ with the exchange from American to Canadian funds). The last book I did really well on with this method was Groot #3 – #4. Got 4 sets for ‘free’ with my store credit, and sold them all for about $24-$29 US per set, then exchanged that into $40 CDN. Snikt!

        1. I’ve seen ya’lls gas prices.. I’ll stick with USD.. 😉
It all evens out in the end.. We buy our ice cream cone for $1.99 here, you all would spend $2.99 for same ice cream cone..

      3. @poyo…if the strippers are using their phones to collect funds at work, im not so sure I want to know where the strippers are keeping their phones while ‘performing ‘? ?

        1. First rule about strippers…. One should not touch thy strippers….. Just watch, no touch. 😉

      4. My initial comment wasn’t a knock on US currency or Americans. I was just stating that because of the weak Canadian dollar, cross border sales are good for Canadian sellers. ”Tis all. But I suppose our gas prices are higher in order for us to have the luxury of free universal healthcare. Going to the hospital whenever is necessary, and not having a bill to pay afterwards, is pretty sweet. ?

        1. Yeah, the healthcare prices suck here…. But we pay premiums while you all pay higher taxes…. It levels out there…. Except when it’s major, you all can walk into a hospital and leave financially secure while we can walk out bankrupt…..

          1. Yes but I understand there’s longer wait times and backlogs for certain testing and treatment in Canada. What kills our doctors and raises prices on healthcare is the lawsuits Dr. face for malpractice

      5. Lol
Tony, Gas is around $1.10 a liter right now which would be about $4.15 a gallon.
So in USD that would be approx. $3 USD/gallon.
        I don’t think it’s ever been $7 a liter!
        Here’s the for you guys:
        Our milk comes in bags!

      6. Cow milk is delicious, Poyo. It’s not just for baby cows anymore! And don’t use the argument that humans are the only species to drink milk after our infancy. Humans are the only species who do a lot things. We are the only species to drive cars, get married, play sport for entertainment, manufacture anything…
…and our milk comes in a bag. The bag is then placed in a milk jug, and the corner of the bag is cut offf, creating a spout for the bag…
…there are some longer wait times for certain scans and such, but our healthcare is pretty good. My old friends, father was diagnosed with colon and lung cancer in December. He has had all his tests, 3 operations to remove the cancers and is now recouping with good results looking forward. So, he had a terrible disease in him that required lots of specialists and scans and what not, and 4 months later, he is healthy, cancer free and has good prospects For his health. And it cost him zero dollars. There may be some waiting, but I don’t think many people have died because of the wait. Priorities. Right?

        1. For the record, I could only wish we had Canada’s Health Care or most of Europe’s UHC setups they have here in the States.. I’d happily trade some more tax dollars than the damn headaches our Healthcare system and Insurance companies cause us here..
And I didn’t say that about milk.. I just said cow milk is for baby cows, not humans.. over the centuries we have evolved to be lactose tolerant by forcing ourselves to drink that nasty stuff.. while some have yet to evolve and are still lactose intolerant. 🙂

      7. I agree, Poyo. Higher taxes is well worth the healthcare. I was just having fun with you guys. Pros and cons to everything, but having a lil, good spirited joust with my American comic buddies is all in good fun. Cheers…
…and Poyo, where’s the NSFW warning on your milk ‘bag’ pic, lmao. Too funny.

        1. Oh, it takes a whole lot to offend me.. nothing you say will keep me from sleeping tonight.. 🙂

    1. I only hit up my local shop on free comic book day and I got there too late. They were mostly picked clean. Darn kid decided to have a cousin sleep over the night before which through my morning off. They did have 40% off everything else in the store however so while it wasn’t free I got a lot of stuff on sale. My shop always runs great sales on free comic book day.

      1. If you’re trying to say it’s last week’s grabs, I just figured you haven’t grabbed tomorrow’s books yet so had no video to show.

        1. ah lol. I forgot to put the New Comic Spec review up for the picks of the week, It reminded me I didn’t do it. I panicked and typed.

  2. I could really use a light week so we’ll see where the winds take me tomorrow. I may be putting a lot of stuff back. After slogging through long boxes today trying to get everything sorted, I realize I have too many comics that I don’t read each week.

    1. I’m good for finishing my physical copies each week, it’s the digitals I can’t keep up with. Wednesdays from like 7-10 it’s me time.

    2. Ive recently, since about Christmas, have cut my reading pile down from 4 short boxes down to about 2 1/2 short boxes. I’ve recently finished reading Aliens Defiance #1-#9, I liked it. It seemed to spin out of the same universe as the Alien Isolation video game (which I absolutely love). I’ve also finished Rebirth Suicide Squad #1-#10 and OML #1-#10. I enjoyed Lees artwork on this title, and the stories are entertaining, but I think I’m done with Suicide Squad books. The story arcs just aren’t doing it for me.

    3. I didn’t contain myself as much as I would have liked, but I did put a few books back. Unfortunately, I purchased America #3. That series has been HORRIBLE so far, but I’m a sucker for the Uncanny X-Men 171 homage cover. I’m giving it just one more issue…

  3. hey guys, first time poster here, love the site and the hard work you guys put into it. i just put up a comic book tag of my top 100 comics a few months ago. go and youtube….top 100 comic books rush diehard. a definite must see!!! been collecting forever. thanks. regression and mindbender looks good for this week. thanks everyone!!

  4. I’m over the Scout books craze have about 20 different copies of Girrion #1 in different super limited variants even kickstarter copies just sitting around, copies of Fisheye which did nothing, once our land flopped and the artist held my money hostage for months from the Signed hardcover I never got and even Henchgirl #1 that was going strong has all but fizzled with the last auction coming in for #1 1st print at $25

    1. I didn’t spec on Fisheye myself, it just didn’t give me that feeling it would take off. Girrion I’m still holding out on.. I think it will be a long term flip. I do agree there was way too many variants and store exclusives for it, I think like most books Cover A will be the winner, if it happens.
Once Our Land I think is another one that is long term potential. I almost got burned on the HC but he got my email messed up on a confirmation, so I was able to get one before he was completely out. I had a long running email with the author, he did admit he handled it poorly, he didn’t expect such a rush of people buying the book and next time he’s getting someone else to handle the logistics of it all. So lesson learned is the hint I got from him.
Some of these new books are catching heat but I think most will be quick flips, not long term flips unless they stay consistent on releases and are ongoing, not mini-series.

  5. Looking forward to the following books this week:
Star Wars: Screaming Citadel (Walsh variant)
    X-Men Gold #1 (2nd print)
    Regression #1
Grass Kings #3 (didn’t like this book at first but the story and art are growing on me)
This week’s pick ups for PC:
Marvels Hardcover Signed Busiek and Alex Ross (heck of deal for $42)
Baby Teeth Ashcan #1 (C2E2 exclusive signed by Donny Cates)-$25
Vision #4 and #5 by Tom King-found at LCS for cover price for both in NM!
Nightwing #16 Reis cover B for cover price
    Good hunting everyone!

    1. Kyle. I think you meant to go to the free Comic Wednesday post. We don’t give away anything in the open forum.

      1. That’s not true Tony
Every week we give away laughs and companionship and sometimes nude photos.

  6. Well will try to get my hands on mindbender..i asked to put one in my box but they never order much..
Found a black white Redneck variant for a good price
    Regression is on my list
    Deadpool variant
Missed out on pestilence last week..my local shop doesn’t order much of the small press
Mid-evil and horror right down my alley
    Happy hunting

  7. Looks like Medisin #1 is going to be a tough find. Not one listed on ebay yet and sold out at midtown

    1. Zero copies of Medisin in my area. The big shop had ordered 2, but both were scooped up by subscribers before the shop opened.

  8. Not much on my pull. A few marvel books that I won’t read for months. Hoping that my local shop ordered Regression. I preordered one online, but I want to read it tomorrow.

  9. Hit a couple shops for fcbd, got the I hate Image, Rick & Morty, and Underdog. Unbelievably, both stores had longboxes outside in the rain. Oh, they put up a couple patio unbrellas and a canopy, but it was pouring!
Sadly, as expected a lot of he books were getting ruined. But neither owner seemed to care…do you get to write this stuff off in insurance or something? And while a lot of it was (I guess) junk books, I saw a lot of bronze goodness in the few boxes that were still dry. For $2 bucks I pulled Marvel Teamup #3 (2nd app Morbius)…Firestorm #3 (1st Killer Frost)…Ragman #1…and Captain Canuck #2 & #3 from the 70s (which turned out to be signed copies). All in f-vf condition. But what else was there getting destroyed I don’t know, I was afraid to open any boxes that were wet. Anyway, Bevis the guy at the table, made fun of the Canuck books, took my money, and went back to his hot dogs and discussion of magic cards.
Really irritates me to see that kind of stuff go on.

      1. Edge of Spiderverse #2.. yeah, one came damaged from a pre-order. So I let the 6 year old have it. It got thrown around her room for a good month or so, just adding to the damage. So for giggles during a cleaning.. I decide to sell it at it’s peak selling time. I sold that sucker for like $50, the buyer said he was hoping he could press it out. I noted in the auction with tons of pics the condition.. that was a great sell!

      1. My kids first comic we gave her when she was a baby was Xmen #266 back then it was a cheap book and thought nothing of it, it was from a stack of Xmen comics from my husbands subscription as a kid we thought would be a good idea to let our daughter rip through them. We had to rebuy that book lol comes back to bite ya

  10. My pick ups this week
Brave and the bold 54 First teen titans gd/vg
    Sandman vertigo 1, 4 nm
    Xfactor 5,6 nm
Nothing new this week but one of the better weeks back issue hunting in awhile.

  11. My car is in the shop, so no books for me today. When I am mobile again, I’ll pick up:
    Invader Zim 19
Missed picking up the FCBD Rick & Morty. Does anyone know if it is a new story or a reprint?

    1. The shop I went to had a ton of the Rick and Morty, it reprints #1 but has a few pages of new story from the new mini coming out soon.

      1. I appreciate the help. I decided to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 2 during the early hours of FCBD and missed out on the FCBD Rick & Morty.

  12. So out of the two shops today:
1 shop only had 1 copy each of Medisin #1 and Solar Flare #2. The other shop had none, didn’t even order them. Both shops had no Mindbender, one didn’t order, the other was already out by the time I got there.
I did manage to grab most if not all the Screaming Citadel’s variants at cover. That was a plus..

  13. Here’s my other pickups today.. well, they were delivered:

I was digging through a couple of my old short boxes and I found a ton of Preacher back issues that I forgot I had, the best one being #13. Needless to say I pulled them out of that box and stuck them straight into Mylar.

    Weapon X #3(reg cover)

  18. Hmmm … tried to take it easy this week … and then I found some variants … OML, All-New Wolverine, All Star Batman … was able to snag a copy of Mindbender Cover B. My LCS had a Cover A, but it was banged up a bit so I skipped it … for now. Was a bit disappointed that no Spawn variants showed up … Renato Spawn variant looks great, but no luck.

  19. Picked up the following…
    All Star Batman C
    Detective B
    Suicide Squad A
    Amazing Spidey
    America (Moore variant)
Black Panther & the Crew (1 in 25 variant)
    Deadpool (Nakayama variant)
    Kingpin
    Old Man Logan (Sienkiewicz variant)
    Rocket (Jusko variant)
    Secret Warriors (Nakayama variant)
Star Wars Screaming Citadel (Walsh variant)
    Weapon X variant
    X-Men Blue variant
    Harrow County
Regression (reg. & Spawn color covers)
    Renato Jones (reg. cover)
    Youngblood (Retailer appreciation cover)
    Mindbender A
    Solar Flare
I went to two shops. One had no Mindbender or Solar Flare…the other only had a few copies of each (and no Hester variant on Mindbender)…I was not impressed with the condition but I grabbed the best copies I could find. My LCS is trying to get me an All New Wolvie (Chen variant)…keeping my fingers crossed. I did not know which cover to get on SW Screaming Citadel…I was not impressed with the art on any of them except cover A, but I went with the most limited variant b/c I got it @ a decent price. I don’t see myself continuing much further on the newer Marvel titles like America, Rocket, BP & the Crew or Secret Warriors…just snagging some early variants for a rainy day. I also picked up a pile of FCBD books and a few Marvel lenticular boards. I read both Regression and Mindbender last night to see if the stories warrant the speculation…I thought both were okay…I am more interested in seeing where the Regression storyline leads…I thought both had nice art, but I preferred the Regression art style. I flipped through one of two copies of Medisin, but I wasn’t impressed with the art and decided against buying it.

  20. On free comic day, I brought 90 recent comics for $1.00 per 10. Semi-annually, this hobby store can afford to sell comics at a loss because their profits come from selling games. Comics are a small part of their business to attract customers.

    1. Comichron mostly. Now they aren’t exact numbers since they are just recorded sales through Diamond but it gives you a fair representation. Better than anything else we have.
