Comic Picks of the week for Delivery 5/17/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each wth potential, we pick the ones we feel have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 5/17/17:
Thin week for spec this week. But a new horse entered the race today….
Returning Favorites
Animosity #7 – Still a great series. I have enjoyed it, seems like forever since the last issue came out.
American Monster #6 – This had been a great read, then it disappeared. Now that it is back I cannot see where this goes. (I am giving it one more chance to be timely, sorry 4 Kids, you lost your slot here)
Curse Words #5 – I really do like Charles Soule and Ryan Browne. They have tamed up for this and it has been fun. Looking forward to the continuing saga.
Royal City #3 – Man Lemire’s writing is on point. This odd ball tale of a family haunted by their long deceased brother has been good
The Tasteless One
Zombie Tramp #35 Carrie Fisher Variant– Well, what can be said, some people are just looking for attention. And it worked. I posted the story (thanks to Mel for pointing this one out) and the copies disappeared on the internet. This could be one of those books that become infamous. Who knows. But copies have already started being listed for more than cover price.
The Small Press Gem
Ian Livingstone’s Freeway Fighter #1 – Mel had this one pegged as a very Furiosa feel to it. It is good. Popular game tie in and a small print run could make this book a winner for more than just reading.
The Pick of the Week
– The Color and Black and White promotion for Image has been pretty good. These (and the upcoming Seven to Eternity ones) are king. Already selling for above cover. And on a hot title, you can’t go wrong.
And in case you missed it, this weeks new comic spec review video:

  1. American Monster has been pretty bad. I don’t even remember what was going on at this point. I’ll still get it tomorrow but I could see myself cutting it at this point.

    1. This is the beginning of the 2nd season…. So they took a break between story arcs. But any delays and I am out.
