New 'DC Showcase' Collected Magazine Appearing at War-Mart

Wal-Mart has been trying to get into the comic sales for a while. They started with $5 comic packs, I did a Unbagging Video here. From there, they got into the DC reprint packs, that featured a special printing of recent #1 comics, plus a few other comics in the packs as well. It seems that DC has continued the relationship with War-Mart by releasing a special DC Showcase Magazine in Walmart stores.
Stan T. Says:

Saw these today, they just were released in Walmart. They are for sale in the card section with the prepackaged bags of comics. There are four covers, but the insides are all the same. Reprints of both Rebirth and New 52 material. Three are recycled DC covers, but the fourth is a Gal Godot photo cover.
And yes, as advertised, it’s under $10….$9.98 cover price. They all are square-bound on glossy paper, no ads other than some D.C. House ads. I don’t know how these will sell, seems pricey for a comic book and at 128 pages, it is no trade paperback.

Thanks to Stan T. for sending this one over.

  1. Wal-Mart also currently has a Wonder Woman- Her Greatest Battles TPB and a new group of DC $5 3 packs available.

  2. That struck me as odd too. Seems it would be very confusing for new readers. Also, this is obviously aimed at the Wonder Woman movie fans, and yet DC felt it necessary to include Batman all over it to insure sales.
Something else I thought of…why are there no movie adaption tie-in comics for the DC films?

      1. They did “prequel” books for Superman Returns & Green Lantern. Nothing for BvsS. Marvel does some of those prequels too but no movie adaptions either. Star Wars yes, Guardians no. Seems a no brainer.

  3. #awesomesauce the wonder woman photo cover is the one to buy I can also see sets of all the covers doing well. and other three packs kick monkey butt now only if I lived near a wallmart blind adam out

  4. There is a fifth cover too, a Juatice League one.
Also worth mentioning is that these are loose magazines, not shrinkwrapped, and racked into the same cardboard bins with the 3 packs. Not on the magazine rack section. We’ve all seen the meticulous care Wally gives to maintaining and filling the card section of their stores. High grade might be hard to find after they get pawed over.
