  1. I would have broken these up into individual sales.. potentially more money, one after the next so you’re not swamping the market.

    1. agree…especially if three or four of those are 9.8’s…getting them certified might cost some money up front but could double the overall sale.

    2. If you read his description on this lot of comics ..this part is cut and pasted from it…(If this auction doesnt hit at least $5,500 by the last day I will have to take it down, the cheapest book to end in the past 30 days on ebay sold for $250. (26x$250=$6500) Not going to sacrifice the value of these books by putting them all up at once.) If he wanted to get a certain amount on this auction..he should have put a reserve on it IMO..right now it’s at 6,500.00

    1. Yup.. a recent raw NM copy sold for $435. Another around the $360 range. Just for giggles, if you were to sell single copies at say.. $425 average price (if they are all NM and NM+), 26 copies should net you around $11,050.00 total. So unless Porky’s makes 10k on this lot, he potentially lost out by not listing individually.
I would have sent the best copies off to CGC or CBCS, 9.8 really bumps the value up and would have been worth the investment. A recent 9.8 sold for $800 range.. thus doubling your 10k and another 1k investment (or whatever it cost to submit 26 copies to get graded) into an additional 9k profit (assuming all 26 were 9.8, but even 9.6 sell really well).

  2. Got this book for about $20 a couple of years after it came out…wish I bought more, but happy with what I have…extreme Kudos to the owner of this lot for having the foresight!

    1. His auction states he hit recent buy from a seller who hoarded #1 and other books like this with 1st appearances. So I’m sure he had to front some money for these and the collection but I’m sure he’ll do okay.
It would have been a nice story if it was 26 copies that got thrown into a longbox buried in back of store that got dragged out.. 🙂

  3. I’m willing to bet whoever is eyeing to buy these just plan to try and turn a profit themselves by sending off for grading, etc.

  4. it’s at 8100 now, depending on the grading of the books i’m not sure if it’s even worth it to bid it up any higher if the buyer is looking to potentially flip most of them for a profit.

  5. Auction closed at $10,500. I calculated his fees were about $570 (paypal, ebay, and shipping) and brings his net to $9,930. That’s over about $380 per book. Not a bad flip if you asked me. Of course, depending on how much he paid for those books. I’m sure he kept few copies.
