Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 7/26/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. We pick the ones we think have the best chance at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 7/26/17:
Fairly tame week. Lot’s of returning favorites. No big spec books, but a couple good small press spec books.
Returning Favorites
Edge of Venomverse #3– I can actually say that I have been enjoying this series. Ghost Rider stars in this one. I have been enjoying the Lim variants as much as the Mattina covers but this one Mattina kills it.
Namwolf #4 Alexis Ziritt cover– I have been really enjoying Namwolf. This one has an Alexis Ziritt cover, artist of Space Riders (who will be in town for a signing in a couple of week) and he just kills it.
Cannibal #7– One of my favorite Image books, really a fresh take on zombies.
Plastic #4– Pick a cover that you like. Such a strange and fun book
Saga #45 BKV’s epic saga, Saga, is one of the best reads on the Market.
Redneck #4 – Donny Cates is no longer one of the up and coming best writers, he is there now. Cates’ kills the vampire genre with this southern fired tale. Also be on the look out for the awesome cover for #3 2nd print
Black Hammer #11– Lemire’s homage to silver and golden age super heroics, mixed in with a modern sensibility. Awesome.
Shirtless Bear-Fighter #2– Hilarious first issue. Can’t wait for more.
Sons Of The Devil #14 -Another highly under rated Image book. Has been fantastic.
Mindbender #3 – James Pruett writes an awesome comic. This book mixes superpowers, drama, and mystery. Love watching it unfold.
Solar Flare #4 Sons of Anarchy (minus motorcycles) + Walking Dead (minus zombies) = One hell of a book. Come on AMC, pick this up.
Cover of the Week

Street Fighter & Friends Swimsuit Special 2017 Joe Vriens Homage Variant – I love classic Vampirella Magazines. This one is an homage to issue 1 of the classic Warren series.
The Reader of the Week
John Carpenters Tales of Science Fiction Vault 1 – New series spotlighting the master of horror’s science-fi side. Several “Tales of Science Fiction” series will be released. But if you are a fan, get in on the early ones. Small print runs.
The Quick Flip
Savage Dragon 225 25th Anniversary XXX Cover – This one is for the flip. I think people may want to snag up the adult cover of a regular superhero book…. Well, somewhat normal superhero book
The Small Press Pick of the Week
Heavenly Blues #1 – I have a feeling about this one. Scout puts out some good books. These have smaller print runs and can be hard to find in some shops. Worth the pick up.
The Pick of the Week
Alien Bounty Hunter 1 – Do not let this one pass you by. You have Mark Walhberg producing a comic from a small press company… You know this will be a Mark Wahlberg vehicle down the road.
Well, that is it for us. Let us know what you are spec-ing on. And in case you missed it, here is this week’s New Comic Spec Review Video

  1. Did you ever see the TV show from a few years back called Revolution? It is sort of the same concept as Solar Flare.

      1. It had a nice pedigree when it came out . Executive produced by JJ Abrams, Eric Kripke, pilot directed by Jon Favreau. Lasted 2 seasons with decent reviews. DC did a 4 part digital comic wrapping up the storyline.

      2. It is. The main difference between it and Solar Flare is that it takes place 15 years after the blackout occurs…

      3. I liked it, only wished it lasted longer. I think you will like it. Let us know what you think whenever you get chance to check it out.
