Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 8/2/17

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 8/2/17:
Returning Favorites
Predator Hunters #4 – The covers on this series have been fantastic. The logo has been more than half of the cover, which may not sound appealing, but has been cool. The story has been great as well.
Savage Things #6 – a great read. Justin Jordan is killing it with this one.
Extremity #6 – this book from Skybound has been a fantastic read and is really hitting it’s stride.
Seven to Eternity #8 – Rick Remender’s incredible book continues. If you have missed out pick up the TPB for under $10.
Hillbilly #7 – Eric Powell at his best.
Slasher #3 – If you haven’t picked up this weird indy book, do so. Great read, very strange, but Charles Forsman spins an odd horror tale.
The Marvel One to Grab
Generations Banner Hulk & Totally Awesome Hulk #1 – Strong start to Marvel Generations as the first issue of the first book has already sold out in advance. Something tells me to hold out for the 2nd print (which can be pre-ordered now) as well.
The Cheap One
True Believers Black Panther #1 – How can you pass up Black Panther #1 for $1. The movie is coming out. Grab a couple and sell them for a couple of bucks close to the movie
The One with the Walking and the Dead
Walking Dead #170 – the most popular comic on the stands, must pick up every month. Spoilers will be up shortly.
The Small Press Pick of the Week
Galaktikon #1 – Co written by Eric Powell, has the art style of Space Riders, as well as the strangeness of it as well.
The Spec Pick of the Week
Dead of Winter #1 – Just one of those books that has a lot going for it. Based on a popular game, has zombies, will not have a huge print run, and of course, that cross over potential.
The Pick of the Week
Robotech #1 (2017 Titan) – This is a no brainer. First up it has a beautiful Artgerm cover. Grab a couple if you are going to NYCC and have him sign them. It is also a beloved series from the 80’s. (Did you know that Transformer Skyfire was a repurposed Robotech fighter?) oh yeah, it is already selling for $10-12. … No brainer like I said. There are also copies of the Comic Variant and the Boston Comic Con Foil Variant hitting the market.
And in case you missed it, the New Comic Spec Review Video for 8/2/17

  1. Don’t think Starscream was based on the Robotech fighter. It was Skyfire/Jetfire the first Auobot plane. I had the toy and it was one of the transformer toys released.

  2. love that artgerm robotech cover. I did miss out on 7 to eternity, and i will be picking up the tpb soon 🙂
