Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 2/7/18

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 2/7/18:

Big week this week so let’s jump right in.
Returning Favorites
Batman White Knight #5 Regular Cover – A DC book has to be good to be on my returning favorites. I read mostly indie books, so for a big two book to make it, you know it has to be good. Shoot for the A cover on this one with Neo-Joker.
Coyotes #4 – I was very skeptical about this series going into it, however, it is one of my favorite Image series now. Very weird take on Werewolves and hunters.
For the Cover
Batman #40 Olivier Coipel Variant – Coipel is cranking out great looking covers, worth putting together a set
Harley Quinn #37 Frank Cho Variant – I have been a fan of Cho’s art for a long time. I have been putting together a signed set of these.
Dejah Thoris #1 Frank Cho Cover – No butts about it, this cover will have it’s appeal. I wouldn’t waste time on the more expensive versions of the cover when you can get the art for cover price.
The One With the Walking and the Dead
Walking Dead #176 – to be honest, I have cut down on buying multiple issues. I have been selling off some of my back stock. But still a solid read each month, and as long as the TV show stays on, I will be buying the series with an eye for the long term flip.
The Weeks Quick Flip Variant
Dastardly & Muttley #6 Bill Sienkiewicz Variant – None listed on eBay currently, but expect these to drop on for around $10 when they do. If you grab one, flip it quick and don’t look back. While the book has an incredibly small print run, split between two covers, these Bill Sienkiewicz covers can be unstable on the secondary market.
The No Brainer
Avengers #679 – Would never think an Avengers book would be a spec pick, well a modern one anyway, however, the No Surrender storyline has been good and has been drawing in readers and collectors. Sold out at Midtown and other online shops. Also sold out at Diamond and going to a second print.
Small Press Picks of the Week
Smoketown #6 – First issue out after the movie deal announcement. Sold out many places on line. Besides being a great book, this could have some flip potential
Songs for the Dead #1 – Regular cover by Tess Fowler is sold out pretty much at all big online retailers. This could be a book people are chasing by the weekend. Grab one and be ready.
Pick of the Week
Swamp Thing Winter Special #1 – Swamp Thing has long been a looked over character. With Wein and Wrightson passing, this is a great tribute to their work. It is an added bonus when the book is already selling for $16 on eBay. You can try Mycomicshop around the time this hits to possibly find a copy.
