Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 6/13/18

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery 6/13/18:
The Killer B’s
Flash #48 Francesco Mattina Cover – not much to say Mattina is a fan favorite. These are beautiful covers.
Suicide Squad #43 Francesco Mattina Cover– Love the skulls of the Squad.
The Indy Image One
Bloodstrike #0 – Normally I wouldn’t care about a reboot of a Rob Liefeld title, but it has art by Michel Fife, the incredible indy artist who does Copra.
The New Image #1’s
Magic Order #1 is out and features the first comic book appearance of the characters and title of Mark Millar’s upcoming Netflix tv show. Big print run guaranteed. Midtown is sold out of their B and C covers.
Stellar #1 – based off the Robert Kirkman Pilot Season book from a bunch of years back and looks to be cool.
Weatherman #1 – another cool looking new Image book, this one features a 1:25 Matel Scalera cover that is being sought after. If you can find it cheap flip it.
Deadpool’s Next Title
Deadpool Assassin #1 – there was a time where Deadpool had four or five series going on at one time. Feels like we are going back to that. There is a regular Mark Bagley cover and a variant by Bill Sienkiewicz, 50/50 split on these covers, go for the Sienkiewicz.
The Marvel Big Ones
Venom #2 – potential to be big if the God of the Sybiote character gets it’s first full appearance or not.
Small Press Pick of the Week
Zinnober #1– this was previewed in their FCBD The Mall book. Twenty years ago dragons returned to Earth and laid waste to human civilization. In the event the surviving humans named ‘Zinnober,’ Claire, then a young girl, lost her parents to the devastating force of these primeval creatures. Today, she’s hell-bent on avenging the death of her family. But will the skills she was taught by her foster-father, the troubled ex-Marine James, be enough to fight an unstoppable enemy older than the Earth itself? Will the knowledge of her newest ally, the young scientist Andrew, bring her even closer to her goal? And what role will the mysterious Followers, a cult of mad dragon worshippers, play in all of this?
The Pick of the Week
Thor #1 – Wait until you see the new character, (ok derivative mash up) that hits this week. It is pretty cool and could take off. Wait for spoilers later.
And in case you missed it, here is this week’s New Comic Spec Review Video for 6/13/18

    1. yep but $10 a piece. one of my regulars brought this issue to my attention so managed to get before sold out

    2. I order these 2 months ago through my LCS. As long as my LCS didn’t drop the ball I should have 3 of these. Can’t wait to get them.

  1. I read Stellar. It was okay, not great. I got super busy today and wanted to post a review like I did with Weatherman but now I’m tired..

    1. I read the Ash Can my LCS gave me. It was okay. Not good enough that I asked for it to be added to my pull list.

  2. I got (online order)a Bloodstrike 0 Fife cover. Weatherman 1:25 variant(yes)! 2 copies of Zinnober cover B. It looks so good I may not sell any of them. Cover of the year in my book

  3. Didn’t Image try the D&D strategy with “The Realm”? I get it that they lost any momentum with the delay after issue 5, but just thinking.

    1. I still love that secret cover with the D&D dragon on it. I will keep that and most likely sell the others.

    1. I’ve been really looking forward to this comic. I think it’s going to be a great read, but not sure if it’ll ever heat up.
