Spoilers: Batman #50, The Rest of the Story

The New York Times spoiled the ending of Batman #50. But there is more to the story. The following post contains spoilers. Continue only if you are good with having the rest of the issue spoiled. The pictures are redacted. The accompanying text isn’t.

Needless to say the revelations that the Bat and the Cat were not getting married shocked some people, and of course, not others. The biggest kicker for many on-line was DC’s marketing campaign promoting the wedding and making it a “sure thing” the wedding of the century was happening. (Kudos to Marvel for doing the same thing a week or two back, but with positive results.) Retailers took to the message boards blasting DC. Do not even get me started with Tom King’s Twitter feed of hate for writing it, of course, Tom isn’t guilty of the promotion that went out, and the series of books released on “who was going to be the best man.”

But there is more to the story that the New York Times didn’t spoil. Here is that part.

Catwoman’s side kick from way back is spending her time cooling her heels.

That is until she gets a special invite to a certain stately manor.

But while she is with Selena, she seems to be sewing seeds of doubt.

And the final reveal as to why this is going on and who is behind it.

So there you have it, he broke Batman’s back before, and now he is going for his heart.

  1. Sooooooo…..I guess I need to look at the books in the “I Am Suicide” story arc for additional insights or hidden gems.

  2. I’m glad they’re getting blasted. They trolled the community for nearly a year and basically raped the wallets of speculators and retailers alike.

    1. To be fair, I don’t think anyone really thought that it would happen. The issue is that by releasing the spoilers early like they did, they may have negativly impacted the sale of the issue to casual readers. This matters because some stores ordered more to be able to meet a demand that just won’t be there now. This is easily resolved by making copies returnable. DC already going to reimburse shops for promotial costs.

    2. Come on, man. Don’t blame the fools…blame the fools who follow fools. I think it’s a good lesson for all those speculators and retailers.

  3. batman #50 this generations adventures of superman #500. this generations turrock #1. however to be fair there was eight years between superman #50 clarks engagement and the wedding album . so it could still happen. I do like the return of hly as well as this going back to I am suicide and bane . bne is the big pimping rogue first ghe breaks the bat’s back you tube the robot chicken sketch with that and then he breakes the bats marriage #awesomesauce and I still hear tom hardys voice when I red bane do you. have a safe and happy 4th of july love you guys blind adam out

  4. the new york times sux ,,,and in other news reporting and editorializing as well…not just when they lower themselves to cover events in our community

  5. Disappointment is with deceptive marketing because Batman 50 is not as advertised by DC. Unlike Marvel which delivered with surprise marriage despite no marriage. Many fans didn’t expect a marriage for Batman. Afterall, Mary Jane and Lois Lane didn’t marry immediately in the past. Some fans even prefer no partner such as Robin which seems natural for classic lonely miserable vigilante originally created from tragedy..
