Margot Robbie’s Next Harley Movie to Feature Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya

The Wrap had an exclusive story that the next Harley Quinn movie staring Margot Robbie will feature a bevy of DC Female Heroine. In addition, the main villain in the movie will be a never before seen on the screen character.

A good bit of spec related to this Birds of Prey Movie. First up who will be the villain. Black Canary first appears in Flash Comics #86, which is very pricey, so we can count that one out unless you find a really good deal. The first appearance of the Huntress is also pricey, she first appears in Sensation Comics #68 however, the movie will feature Heena Bertinelli who first appears in The Huntress #1 (April 1989).  Cassandra Cain first appears in Batman #567, which is a $100 plus book. Finally,  Renee Montoya first appears in Batman #475.

From The Wrap:

Black Canary, Huntress, Cassandra Cain, and Renee Montoya will join Harley Quinn’s girl gang in the Margot Robbie film “Birds of Prey,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.

Robbie will produce “Birds of Prey” and reprise her “Suicide Squad” character, Harley Quinn. The film is centered around a revolving group of female heroes and villains, individuals with knowledge of thew project tell TheWrap.

In addition, TheWrap has learned that the villain in “Birds of Prey” will be a Batman comics villain who has never before appeared on the big screen.

“Birds of Prey” will be produced by Kroll & Co Entertainment’s Sue Kroll and Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, as well as Robbie.

Here is a rundown of the “Birds of Prey” characters, who will be familiar to longtime DC comics fans:

-Black Canary, aka Dinah Laurel, is a fantastic hand-to-hand combatant who comes from a family of crime fighters. Her father, Larry Lance, was a police officer, while her mother (also named Dinah) was the original Black Canary.

-Helena Bertinelli, aka Huntress, is a vigilante operating out of Gotham City.

-Cassandra Cain is one of the world’s greatest martial artists, and also a vigilante.

-Renee Montoya is a detective working for the Gotham City Police Department. Montoya is openly lesbian, and during The New 52 comics she takes on a costumed identity, becoming the Question.

  1. Batman 567 is a $100 book? Really? I always rolled my eyes how Shadow of the Bat 83 was slighted after being such a hot book back in the day, and then this issue came out of nowhere.

Had they just retroactively said it was Cass in the suit, Shadow 83 would be big bucks, but it is still technically the first appearance of the new Batgirl suit and identity.

  2. Remember when #567 was a dollar binner. Justice League #75 could be the Canary book to get depending if it’s momma or daughter.

      1. Hope so…Haven’t been loading up, but I did pick up a few just in case she made it to the big screen.

      2. I have one copy that I bought on amazon of all places was listed as like New with no picture. You know how that can go, but it arrived pristine I’d say 9.2-9.8 candidate should have it graded cuz they are over $1000 in that grade.

      3. amazon is very hit or miss….Best described as a crap shoot…sometimes it pays out though… A lot of mom and pop book store owners and thrift store owners that just look at guide and nothing more…. Usually comics are very over-graded and shipped poorly, but that rare time you get a total gem is pretty cool!

  3. One more thing if minor characters first appearances are hitting $100 and established characters first appearances are sky rocketing and this continues the next 5-10 years I’ll be retiring early.

  4. Good timing, I just bought Batman #567 CGC 9.4 last week. I’m sure it will now be worth much more than I paid. I also have the 1st Renee and the 1st of both Henlenas. Hopefully next they’ll announce that Babs is in the movie.

  5. Also, Sensation Comics #68 is not the Huntress who will be in BoP. That will be one of the Helenas, either Wayne or Bertinelli. Helena Wayne is the Earth Two daughter of Batman and Catwoman so it probably won’t be her either, but her 1st appearance is DC Super Stars #17 and is worth much more than Bertinelli’s first. Huntress #1 (1989) is still a $5 comic right now.

  6. Yeah, Justice League America #75 will probably be the Black Canary book to get. For Batman 567 the newsstand version will probably be the better version to get if you can find any.
