Recent Gorr/All-Black Necrosword Under Appreciated Cover

Seems like everything Knull/Gorr/All-Black Necrosword has been heating up. That was why I was surprised to find a very under rated ratio variant recently while poking around an area comic shop at lunch.

I find myself, more and more, poking around comic shops during my lunch and usually find something interesting. While browsing one I came across a cover, that initially had me a little confused. I was checking back issue bins for recent books that pop  when I saw the comic to the left. It is Thor #2 1:10 Variant. I had been looking for copies of Thor God of Thunder #2 (first All-Black sword, which is the first symbiote) and Thor God of Thunder #6 (first cameo, unnamed, of Knull). Thor #2 1:10 Variant came out last month or so. It features a Gorr cover, as well as the All-Black Necrosword. These are pretty cheap, many copies going for well below ratio. But with all the heat on all things related to Donny Cates’ Venom run, I thought it might be worth pointing out.

Mel V. pointed out to me that the All-Black Necrosword made an appearance in Thor Ragnarok. Turns our Hela was not just Hela from the comics, but a combination of Hela and Gorr. I don’t remember anyone speccing on Gorr before the release of the movie but with the ties Venom now has to Thor, it is interesting to see.

  1. Yeah, I’d considered this one when it dropped. The main problem is just the cover is just god awful. Like, it would need to be amln actual first to draw any interest. The shading is atrocious, the proportions are a mess, prett and those hands are the Rob Liefeld of hand drawings. Like, what is wrong with Thor’s thumb and why is his fist larger than mjolnir? Plus, pretty sure from his face that Gorr caught him pooing. Maybe I’ll eat my foot on this one, but I doubt that Gorr the BM butcher is a must have for anyone.

  2. The way his first app shot up this might also take a nice size jump when word gets around there is a cheap ratio, pre-Venom #3 variant with him on the cover. “Might” be some profit in there if you can jump on it fast enough because I don’t think the prices are going to hold for this guy… I don’t think they will fall to cover or anything like that, but some of the asking prices are a bit unrealistic. I expect books like GoT 2 & 6 to fall back to earth sooner than later. Already starting to see under-cutters creeping in.

  3. “First cover appearance” isn’t a very popular key these days. Maybe there will be a little bump in price, but I can’t see it being that much.

    1. It’s not a first cover appearance. He appeared back in Thor GOT 6 on the cover. It’s just a recent cover appearance on a ratio variant that is selling for less than ratio. A ton of copies out there for $5 or so. Just an underrated cover appearance.

      1. I always find it funny, whenever I find an ineresting or strange quick flip people gotta hate on it. We should start an article like Variant Envy… we can call it “Time to hate on my 4 bucks” lol. If you don’t like the book don’t buy it, simple solution.

        1. Who is hating on it, me for saying it is not the first cover appearance? I bought one as well. Also, since I wrote the article talking about it I would think I wasn’t hating on the book.

      2. I clicked reply on the wrong message. I meant to reply to NOTJON. You did not hate. As a matter of fact you rarely hate on anything. We should start an article titled…”things Anthony probably won’t hate”

    1. is it Disney rumours, Diehard? Because wouldnt this weeks Disney acquisition of the Fox properties kinda squash any existing X-verse rumours? Ive heard rumours that New Mutants and Dark Phoenix are going to be cancelled and not released in theatres because of the merger.

      1. I mean, those cancellation rumours are unsubstantiated gossip from a single message board user. I’ll believe they’re cancelled when I see something official.

  4. The sword on the cover reminds me a lot of the He-Man action figures swords lol. Also to Jayclue, the New Mutants & Dark Phoenix movies are NOT being cancelled, at least that’s what several big sites are saying in response to the rumor that caught fire online yesterday (think it was yesterday).

      1. Dang it! Now I want Venomized 80’s everything! Venomized He-Man!…G.I Joe!….Transformers!….Care Bares!….Smurfs!….Rainbow Bright!….Teddy Ruxbin!…. Thunder Cats!…ALF!… Venomize my childhood dag-nabit!

  5. Well, the book isn’t selling for a huge amount but it has certainly sold a lot the past 24 hours. If supply starts running short I wonder just how much it will end up selling for before prices regarding this character eventually start to fall.
