Final Order Cut-Off Highlights for 12/17/18

Final Order Cut-Off is the last day that shops can guarantee their orders for comics. After Final Order Cut-Off, or FOC, these books will only be available to retailers on Advance Reorder. And that is not guaranteed. So here are the highlights for Monday, 12/17/18’s FOC list.

Marvel
g
Venom #10 – Donny Cates has revitalized Venom. Great storyline and shouldn’t be missed.

Guardians of the Galaxy #1 – Donny Cates takes on Guardians coming off his Thanos and Cosmic Ghost Rider runs, not to be missed

Marvel Tales Venom #1 – New cover, pricey reprint. Reprinting Venom’s return in Amazing Spider-Man (1963) #316, the first appearance of Carnage in Amazing Spider-Man #361 and an action-packed Black Cat story in Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #119. May be under-ordered.

Immortal Hulk #12 – Hot series for the Hulk, even hotter now he is in hell.

Crypt of Shadows #1 – Loving the Young Guns Variant, but a new horror story in an old horror series.

Silver Surfer #14 Facsimile Edition – Really like when the reprint the old comics in their entirety, ads and all.

DC

Batman Who Laughs #2 – Issue #1 introduced the Grim Knight, Batman/Punisher hybrid of sorts, he is pretty cool. He takes the cover on this one.

Supergirl #26 – Yeah, Artgerm back on Supergirl covers. He drops off Catwoman, but is back where he really shined.

Detective Comics #996 – Someone is killing off people who trained Batman in this countdown to issue #1000

Suicide Squad #50 – Second part of Mattina connecting cover.

Naomi #1– New Bendis series.

Image/Indie

Vindication #1 – New Image series I got to read the preview of. Has some buzz behind it.

Blossoms 666 #1 – New Archie horror series. I do love these. Sabrina made it to Netflix, will others?

Black Hammer #1 Directors Cut – Optioned series gets a directors cut of the first issue. Great chance for people to see what they have been missing.

    1. Has any Bendis series heated up yet while at DC? I’m gonna keep my skeptic hat on.. DC seems to really be pushing his stuff which really isn’t taking off.

    2. On the one hand, it was made fully returnable by DC, so retailers might have bumped their orders because of it. On the other hand, Bendis writing a POC young character of his own creation has turned out pretty well so far for speccers (Miles, Riri). I know I definitely ordered a couple for myself.

  1. I agree with you, Tony. I love those facsimile editions of older books. I really liked the cover stock on the FF1 facsimile that came out a few months ago. I hope Marvel uses the same cover stock for all future facsimile editions. I cant wait for the AF15 facsimile, if it ever comes out.

      1. For real, ive been flipping the AF15 True Believers $1 book for $15-$18 + shipping for a few months now. Ill tell ya, that initial $35 investment, for 35 copies, has certainly paid off great dividends for me.

      2. I’m surprised the FF facsimile didn’t heat up. It’s nice.

I’m not sure what logistics they have to go through to get permission to reprint old ads or stories…but these are so much more collectible (IMO) than the true believer reprints. I love it that they’re expanding past FF1…would love to see Hulk 1, AF15, Hulk 181….let’s start a petition to marvel! Or at least start a pole ranking facsimiles you’d like to see.

Tony or Poyo can maybe make it part of their give-away contest entries. Instead of you name prove a remark of what marvel classic you would like to see a facsimile made next.

      3. I saw a little heat off of the FF1 facsimile. I think i had a few sales around double cover closer to its release date. It may see more action if/when the FF enter the MCU.

        1. Ahhhh, thats it. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I distinctly remembered him being in one of those Nolan Batman flicks.

  2. Kid liked Spiderverse I fell asleep to it try and watch again today. Aquaman I watched a really bad copy a couple weeks ago, I think it’s probably the best DC film released to date. It’s a long movie and boring at times but for the first time I felt the villains were done properly in a DC film. Every DC villain just about has been a guy in armor and even though the villains for Aquaman are two more guys in armor, Wan does a great job of developing them and their backstory. 8/10 for Aquaman and 7/10 for Spiderverse for what I saw it was decent but Peters voice done an automatic 3 points for me.
