Things I Like and Dislike for the Week of February 13th, 2019

It’s that time again, where I tell you what’s really grinding my gears for the week of February 13th, 2019.

Some weeks it’s mostly likes, other weeks it’s dislikes.

So what’s grinding my gears this week?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

I really like hearing the rumors and news that they plan on using James Gunn’s script for the next Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 movie.

Killer B Covers

I’ve been working on a new simple gallery type site to highlight Killer B covers we speculate on, talk about and collect for their awesome cover art.

It’s still in the works but you can check it out at http://killerbcovers.com as I’m still working on adding many of the back issue Killer B books that are out there as well as post pre-order books we consider Killer B’s.

Hoping this can be both a gallery of the covers but also setup in a way to quickly load and see if you’re missing any while at the local shops that you may have forgot about. Clicking on the images gets you more info on release date, cover artist, links to eBay and TFAW, etc.

Michonne on Walking Dead

The Walking Dead use to have the suspense of who’s going to die next for their viewers? Now they’re only problem is, who’s leaving next?

Does AMC really think they can go on for another 10 years like they claim and keep this show interesting? Do they really think they can successfully make TV movies (as they’ve publicly stated they’re going to do) and get enough viewers to make it worth their efforts?

“We’ve all had our favourite shows that were really interesting up to a certain point, but maybe they just go too far, and then there’s no going back from it. To me, the trick is to do as little as possible with the characters, and yet keep them as interesting as possible. It’s a real balancing act.” -Vince Gilligan of Breaking Bad

I think that quote, at least the first part hits the nail on the head here when it comes to Walking Dead. Walking Dead was successful as the story and plot were interesting and unique, at least unique from your typical zombie story. The characters were also interesting, watching normal people change in a new world of survival and fear but I’ll quote Vince again with what I think is important when it comes to shows.

“It’s always a conscious choice to surprise people. That is always the mandate. Today, with all the wonderful – and sometimes not so wonderful – entertainment it’s harder than ever to keep things interesting, so you have to surprise people.”

Now the story and characters are no longer interesting. There’s no more surprise element. That’s what started to kill it, at least for me. Same goes for the comic, it’s just no longer interesting with no surprises. There’s no turning back now for Walking Dead. The longer it drags on, the more sour it becomes.

Bendis Makes Tim Drake a Virgin Again

WTF? Why is this important or news at all? This is why I despise Bendis as a writer. He seems to focus on all the crap I just don’t give a crap about in super hero books.

But it’s also BC that is highlighting this nonsense. I hate calling out other sources but tell me how or why this is newsworthy?

Does BC have nothing else to write about? Why is Bendis so fascinated with making characters gay and or involved in their love life more than just writing stories about heroes? He really should have been an 80s soap opera writer. This really grinds my gears. I can give two sh1$ts if Tim Drake is a virgin again.

Giveaways on CHU

A huge thanks to all the people who actually attempted and put a little effort into the last contest giveaway. Tried to make it fun and interesting instead of the typical comment with name only to win a prize.

There weren’t a lot of entrants but you had a better chance at winning by putting in a little effort than going against hundreds of others with a simple entry of just your name thrown in the hat.

  1. What else do you expect from BC? They are a mostly hack site. I rarely bother even going there anymore. 99% of the time it is a waste of time.

  2. NOS4A2 teaser trailer was shown during Walking Dead. Feels like 4 or 5 years since it was optioned.
Wraith #1 IDW is the key to dig for

  3. I thought TWD got good again last season on TV I can’t say the same for the comics. I also appreciate Rick being gone it gives me hope for Negan leading everyone again like he said he would in the past.

  4. I watch walking dead for the same reason i still watch Supernatural, just to see it end. I dont care about any of the characters any more, i just want them to end!

  5. My wife and I are on season 8 of TWD and she made a joke on how it took almost 3 seasons to make the show good again. She also said she wants crazy Rick back lol…

  6. I care that tim drake is a virgin.i like this type of stuff. bendis is a great writer .and comics need to be sexy and foir adults to .now I need to leave berfore I get n.s.w. on everyone .

      1. In that same vein, why care about anything with Tim Drake since he’s not real, then?
Adam – like what you like and you’ll never go wrong.
