This has turned into the new norm for DC cranking out cool looking Killer B covers from some of the best artists in the business.
So here are some of the highlighted covers we can look forward to from April’s Previews and still available for pre-order.
Action Comics #1012 (Oliver Variant)
Artist Szymon Kudranski joins superstar writer Brian Michael Bendis as the attacks of Leviathan threaten targets across the globe, and the agents of the invisible mafia continue to infect Metropolis in this tie-in to EVENT LEVIATHAN! RATED T
Just a kickass headshot of Superman getting ready to shoot some mad laser beams from his eyes.
Gotta really appreciate Ben Oliver’s art and covers he brings forth.
Batgirl #36 (Middleton Variant)
Batgirl escapes the madness of Fox’s Den only to discover Vulture is hot on her tail and itching for revenge. Does she stand a chance against this bird of prey? Meanwhile, the fight for Gordon Clean Energy rages on as the workers discover the greatest threat to their employment future is Batgirl herself! RATED T
Very classic old school looking cover art from Joshua Middleton.
Looks almost as if it was a cartoon movie/tv art cell straight out of the old Batman Adventures cartoons.
This is definitely one for the Middleton fans to tuck away in the personal collection.
Batman Who Laughs #6 (Frison Variant)
True happiness begins in the heart. Our memories and emotions can play tricks on us, though, and divert one’s reality into something completely different. The Batman Who Laughs has based his entire worldview on this very concept, and it is in this moment that he must finally confront the one man who stands in his way, the one man who could complete or halt his plan…the last Bruce Wayne. Great looking Frison cover. It’s just a shame the print run will be so high on this book due to the popularity of this new villain, killing any potential spec value it could have had if it was harder to find.
Still a must for any Frison fan. Maybe long term we’ll see it grow in value when supplies start to run dry and demand sticks around.
Catwoman #12 (Artgerm Variant)
Chaos reigns in Villa Hermosa as all the bad guys in town rush to fill the void left by the Creel family’s ouster. But as Raina Creel’s dark plot to resurrect her son comes to a gruesome crescendo, Catwoman may finally be able to put her foe down once and for all. That is, if she can reconcile her own past and find her footing again. RATED T+
Another great looking Artgerm variant, going old school Bombshell style. This one won’t heat up but it’s still a great cover for the personal collection for sure.
This issue, it’s a story from the pages of Hawkman’s journals! Travel back in time to when Carter Hall was reincarnated as a soldier in a cosmic army, while his people were at war! But what happens when a being known for SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION COVERS ILLUSTRATED BY ARTIST LEGENDSconstant reincarnation ends up coming back to life as his own enemy, fighting for the other side? Does it make him a more sympathetic warrior, or give him the weapons to better destroy his enemy? RATED T
I love InHyuk Lee’s cover work and I wish these Hawkman Killer B covers got more recognition.
Justice League Dark #12 (Crain Variant)
Newly powered up by Mordru, the Justice League Dark have become the Lords of Chaos to stop Doctor Fate before it’s too late! But will this deal with the devil cost more than Wonder Woman and her team bargained for? RATED T+
Clayton Crain is usually hit or miss with me but this rendition of Swamp Thing is just awesome.
I don’t think it’s going to do much on the secondary market but it’s still one for the personal collection for you Swamp Thing or Clayton Crain fans out there.
Detective Comics #1006 (Quintana Variant)
Detective Jim Corrigan has been shot on the streets of Gotham City-and the Spectre must reach out to Batman to help him find the secret assassin! RATED T
Just a sweet looking Batman cover.
I’m not that familiar with Quintana but if he keeps pumping out covers like this one, count me in as a fan.
I really like that Catwoman #12 cover.

What makes you say it won’t heat up? I mean, who would think WW 184 would go nuts fifteen years later.
It very well could but different factors come into play I think. First of all, there’s a lot of Artgerm art and covers out there. Secondly, this is not going to be hard to find.
Most of my predictions are more of the short term. Long term, when supplies run dry and more collectors start to seek them out, that’s a game changer. But for now, I don’t see this one heating up anytime soon.
When you have 80% of the comic community collecting artgerm covers it’s pretty hard for any of these to heat up. Soo many people have artgerm as an artist on their pull list and I see for every issue people saying they bought 10, preordered 5, etc. My friend doesn’t do any research or keep up with covers, but anytime he sees a artgerm cover at his lcs, he picks it up. I ask why did you buy that you don’t even like that character. He says ” because its artgerm”.
and as a side note. When a hot cover or artgerm cover comes out months before its release date, its usually heavily ordered leaving the print run to be extremely high.

I haven’t seen any numbers that reflect that. I suspect your comparing the actions of a small number of people who are in the abundance for who you interact with and generalizing that to the comic book world at large.
A spectacular cover like a couple of those Supergirls gets extra attention after the fact but never in time to order extra before FOC. Even his Phoenix Resurrection cover took a year to sell out here and only had a combined print run counting the other covers of 145,000 copies. I actually ordered and sold more of the Lenticular for that one than the Artgerm and that was a #10 book for the year in 2017.
Most of these Artgerms aren’t going to go crazy price fast but there probably aren’t as many out there as you suspect. Many of the one’s that do sell go into the hands of people that have no intention of selling them like the guy who grabs a few of mine but never multiple copies.
To complicate things DC doesn’t give away stacks of catalogs to preorder by like Marvel does although they have just started to discount them down to only a quarter. They offer the PDF’s but they’re so large in size I can’t redistribute them through e-mail.
I did get $300 for a bundle of Symbiote Spider-man last week with the 200 Qty Virgin and Trade Dress Virgin included but overall the few people picking up Symbiote Spider-man are selecting covers other than the Artgerm and fortunately they’re giving us a brand new cover for the 2nd Printing since it appears we’ll be stuck with a stack of SS#1 ArtGerms.
I suspect Artgerms in general are a long term play. Not something you want parked on E-Bay paying 20 to 30 cent a month to park and wait.
