We shouldn’t just collect or flip books, we should also read them. A good story can make your purchase well worth the money spent if you ask me. After all, we buy books to read for entertainment right? Even if you can’t flip them, reading is just as rewarding.
We tend to focus on mostly the floppy copies each week and kind of ignore the trades and hardcovers that come out week after week.
These can be one off books, collected editions or special editions.
This weeks list is a bit bigger than my previous weeks. A lot of great Trades and Hardcovers hitting store shelves worth mentioning.
Also, a huge thanks to all the men and women who died defending our country for this upcoming Memorial Day.
Dept H Omnibus Vol 1 TP is my first trade this week. I’ve become a big Matt Kindt fan. He’s a great story writer. His art is unique and it sort of grows on you over time but I still can’t say it’s the best.
But that’s not the entire reason to check out his stuff. If you missed the single issues and or the smaller 3 volume hardcovers for this series, this is the next best option to read without spending too much.

Legends of the Dark Knight Michael Golden Hardcover is a must for any Batman fan.
I love Michael Golden’s take on the Dark Knight. This new hardcover highlights his work.
Detective Comics #625 was one of his most notable covers I think for his Detective covers but Detective Comics #629
was one of my own personal favorites. I really dig Golden’s details for the city buildings and backgrounds.

Did anyone know that there was life on the moon? Well, back in 1835 people believed the stories published by The Sun out of New York, which likely became one of the most successful hoaxes ever as a lot of people fell for the short stories published.
I love these types of hoaxes so this next hardcover is a must check out for me.
From an artist who reveled in illustrating “the un-illustratable,” a historical graphic novel based on the “Great Moon Hoax,” the most successful newspaper hoax ever. In 1835, New York newspaper The Sun published a series of six articles declaring the discovery of life-and even civilization–on the Moon, which the paper attributed to the famous contemporary astronomer Sir John Herschel. According to The Sun, the lunar inhabitants included unicorns, bison, bipedal tail-less beavers, and intelligent humanoids with bat-like wings.
Life on the Moon is a full-length graphic novel capturing this mythical world. Creator Robert Grossman said the book is set in a time when “many of the signal achievements of the 19th Century still lay well in the future, Andrew Jackson was president, the steamboat was the summit of technology, and news traveled slowly.” The unfettered novel includes real historical figures such as P.T. Barnum, Jean Jacques Audubon, Lorenzo Da Ponte, Charles Goodyear, and Edgar Allan Poe.
Spider-Man Noir could be so much cooler in my opinion. Instead of all these other Spider-Man spin off characters they keep doing, I would love to see more Spider-Man Noir.

Might not be for everyone but lately since I’ve been catching up on earlier Silver, Bronze and Copper age books, I really love the older style of comics. It would only sweeten the deal if they could make these newer hardcover or trades smell like the books from back in the day.
