Covrprice.com’s Runners-up For 6/14/19

As promised, 11-20 on Covrprice.com’s top 10 list. Some really interesting ones this week.

AgentPoyo stepping in for Anthony who’s been swamped with baseball tournaments all weekend. So you’ll have to excuse me if I miss anything or don’t do it exactly the way he does it as I finish up his draft he had going with proper links and such.

11. Ultimate Fallout #4 – sold 30 copies, 7-day trend of 99%, high sale of $340 for a CGC 9.8

12.  Category Zero #1 – sold 24 copies, 7-day trend of 121%, high raw sale of $13

13. Darkhawk #1 – sold 31 copies, had a 7-day trend of 88% and had a high sale of $176 for a CGC 9.8.

14. Miles Morales: Spider-Man #6 (Marvel, 2019) is still moving thanks to Starlings first full appearance. It sold 29 copies, had a 7-day trend of 95% and had a high raw sale of $10.

15. Giant-Size X-Men #1 (Marvel, 1975) this is a blue chip book. With the X-Men hitting the MCU at some point in the distant future, this is an excellent time to pick up copies as it will be going up from here on out. It sold 17 copies, had a 7-day trend of 148% and had a high raw sale of $3,300.

Note: This was solicited as Torque but it’s in fact a Kris Anka variant.
16. Black Cat #1 – Torque Variant (Marvel, 2019) is a great cover and collectors felt the same. It sold 23 copies, had a 7-day trend of 102% and had a high raw sale of $12.

17. Paper Girls #1 (Image, 2015) sold 21 copies thanks to a tweet from Brian K Vaughn about “Extra, extra big Paper Girls news coming your way soon”. Of course, many figured that this means content. Hence, it had a 7-day trend of 106% and had a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.8.

18. Wolverine #1 (Marvel, 1988) comes up on our runner ups frequently. If it isn’t on this list, then it’s always close. It sold 19 copies, had a 7-day trend of 125% and had a high raw sale of $153.

19. War of Realms: New Agents of Atlas #3 (Marvel, 2019) is still trending even at the 3rd issue. At this point, collectors have their #1 and #2 issues that are loaded with first appearances. It sold a modest 16 copies, had a 7-day trend of 139% and had a high raw sale of $13.

20. Moon Knight #1 (Marvel, 1980) is getting the spillover from the out of reach Werewolf by Night #32. It sold 23 copies, had a 7-day trend of 91% and had a high sale of $146 for a CGC 9.8.

    1. BTW, do you know if there’s any movement on Marvel Spotlight #28 in light of Moon Knight’s rise?

      1. A quick look on eBay shows over 100 sold listings, scattered all over the place. Marvel Spotlight #28 is not a bad book to own either. It’s probably one of the next best books to own besides his first appearance and his first self titled book from 1980.

Looks like a CGC 9.8 went for a cool $1,000 on May 29th.

  1. Great job, poyo! You gonna start taking over his weekly new comic spec video next? ?

    I’d love to see that…

    1. Probably should clarify…lol.

Nothing against Anthony and his spec videos…I think it might be comical to see poyo try to fill Anthony’s shoes on camera…

      1. I have seen Poyo in real life and just having him on camera would be comical. Videos returning soon. Got to shave and get a hair cut. Lol.

      2. I actually told Anthony once if I did do a video spec, I’d have to keep my identity a secret. So this is actually me.. for those interested!

        1. Remember, remember the 5th of November, gun powder treason and plot; I know of no reason why gun powder treason should ever be forgot.

  2. That Moon Knight Magazine is a tuffy too. I don’t recall the number or the series but I can see the baby blue background with Moon Knight coming up from a graveyard or something? Memory is sketchy

  3. You must be making a fortune off those 10 links to E-Bay if it’s important enough to delete my comment on the other post that copy pasted the same list trying to help Anthony out who appeared to sound too swamped to get to it without even a “thank you for reminding us”. Those click thru’s to E-Bay more important than getting the information into the hands of your viewers sooner?

As already mentioned and deleted the high selling new book of the list is the 25 Qty/Ratio Black Cat selling for less than half of ratio.

Miles Morales #6 still not pulling a $10 bill consistently so they stay in storage under the counter.

New Agents of Atlas #3 has lots of listings cover price and less. https://www.ebay.com/sch/63/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=new+agents+of+atlas+%233&LH_BIN=1&_sop=15

    1. I actually get the list before the emails go out. I started the post earlier in the week but didn’t finish it. Poyo stepped in and finished it. The post proper is important because it makes it easier to find and read. I am sorry if you felt slighted as that was never the intention but we still need to get the post up. So thank you for putting it up.

As for the eBay links, no, they are not more important than getting the post up, but what is most important to me is my life and family. I did as much as I could in between work and coaching 9U baseball, spending time with my kids, and the million of other little things I have to do in my day. But are the links important? Yes. So what most people don’t know or think about is 1. We don’t make a killing off the site and are not rich. I don’t drive a BMW but my car does have three letters in its name (KIA). 2. The site is massive and gets a ton of traffic. As a result the cost of running it (yes it costs money to give away info) is very high. Our traffic on Tuesday night requires us to roll out a second server. The new forum is more server resources. It costs money to run the site.

With all that said, thanks again for posting it on the comments, but please do not question my integrity on why I didn’t post the list. Truth be told I spent Father’s Day with 12 kids trying to win hardware at a tournament (my son included) and skipped on doing pretty much anything else including having a Father’s Day with my wife and other son. Work comes first because it pays the bills, and sadly, getting a post up completely timely comes last.

      1. You know what grinds my gears…when I see posts that have the tone that the organizers and moderators aren’t doing enough as far as content or timeliness.

In fact, I’m going to post in the Grinding Gears thread.

Thank you, Anthony, Poyo and others behind the scenes who give up their free time and in some cases hard earned money to make this hobby more enjoyable for others.

I hope you and your team finished the season strong and I hope you and your family take a much needed break from here and find time to spend with family and celebrate what was postponed on Sunday!

        1. We didn’t do well at all. It’s been a tough season. One of my major focuses is morale and attitude. It is hard to keep kids in it when things turn sour all weekend. We ended up 6th out of 12 teams so it wasn’t completely bad but it still started Wednesday night with planning meetings into Thursday and Friday with writing rosters and batting orders, making sure waivers were signed and all kids bags met league standards. My mom had a flat tire on Friday and had to deal with that as well. It was a long rough weekend. Had a great dinner at a local Mexican place Sunday night and two margaritas put me to bed early. I don’t drink much at all any more so I am a light weight. Back on the road for work today for meetings so no rest for the weary.

      2. To top what Anthony already said. Anyone and everyone is more than welcome to start their own comic book speculation and hobby related site if they feel that impatient when a regularly scheduled article we post is delayed, etc.

I think I’ve mentioned this before but CHU is not a full time job but some days it feels like it. Running a site that gets hundreds of thousands of hits/views a month is a lot of work and it’s all done in my own spare free time (same goes for Anthony).

It’s a little disheartening when someone (a reader or viewer) questions the integrity of what or when something is posted because their comment was deleted due to the fact it was the very info we had already planned to post ourselves.

CHU is free information. We want to keep it that way but we also have to run ads and do affiliate links to help support the site to keep it going.

  4. Thanks for all that you do! This is a GREAT website. I just wish I had time to comment more often. I certainly understand how time consuming it must be to keep the content flowing. You are doing an awesome job!

  5. CHU (Tony and Poyo) have set the bar high and that standard can be challenging to meet at times. Perhaps there is a way to delegate the workload when fam, work and health take precedent. The site works well because feedback is taken into account. Sometimes we post things that could have been said better, but still have relevance. Take it from an outspoken big mouth like myself; I sure know the taste of my foot!
