Things I Like and Dislike for the Week of November 27th, 2019

It’s that time again, where I tell you what’s really grinding my gears for the week of November 27th, 2019.

Some weeks it’s mostly likes, other weeks it’s dislikes.

So what’s grinding my gears this week?

So Many Covers!!!

Thor #1 has 20 covers. Yes, 20 covers and that’s not counting the potential store variants that might be available as well come release time.

I mean, I get it. Marvel banks big on Donny Cates and as his writing is usually enjoyable but they must think they have something good coming out of Cates with this new Thor reboot.

Don’t let us down Cates, this new volume better be Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic worthy!

Thor #1

USPS Sucks

Yes, that’s a package that was delivered and shoved into my tiny mailbox that is only 5 inches wide. So yeah, the postman who felt the need to skip dropping it off on my doorstep and or one of the many available parcel boxes felt the need to bend and shove the package so tight into my mailbox, the only way to get it out was to damage it even more.

The picture doesn’t even do it justice though on the damage it created. It looks more flat after yanking it out of the mailbox as this was almost folded in half when it was inside of my mailbox.

Kudos to TFAW for understanding and just refunding me on my purchase. Now, what to do with damaged comics…  Maybe I need a comic presser now to use them as practice books.

Klaus by Morrison and Mora

Klaus Life & Times of Joe Christmas #1
I love these Grant Morrison and Dan Mora Klaus books. If they can keep pumping these out every year around Christmas, that’d be real great.

Klaus Life & Times of Joe Christmas #1 is on FOC Monday (tomorrow).

That’s all I got for this week. What’s grinding your gears? Tell us here or in the forums.

  1. My biggest beef against TFAW are those flimsy envelopes they send comics in if you don’t order more than a couple…asking for trouble…

My mailbox is a nice size that easily fits about 3-4 of hose Gemini holders stacked…so as to discourage the Newman’s of the world and their crease, crumble, cram…

    1. I don’t order from them for this reason alone. They sent me a $50 incentive variant like this twice. Never used them again after the 1st and 2nd was damaged.

They really need to use a proper mailer and charge you properly for shipping, I’m willing to pay to get my books undamaged.

  2. I dont blame usps, its tfaw for still using those mailers ,
i remember having 3x silk #2 jsc incentives wedged into one of those envelopes with the old dropped on a corner damage
even hastings stopped using those (rip i still miss them)

    1. It would have survived if it hadn’t been folded in half. This round its all USPS fault, anyone with an ounce of common sense shpuld know not to bend a rigid mailer which had 6 comics in it in half to shove into my mailbox half the size of the package.

      1. Report it to the postmaster, ur mailman will have a complaint filed against him, he won’t do again, that’s all it took to stop the once a month call to tfaw.

  3. usps…lol. I had a package picked up from my mailbox (on my porch) by my carrier and it disappeared. I was home when he took it. When the tracking info didn’t update after 2 days, I contacted the postmaster to find tracking info and was told “it was on time for delivery”. Ebay shipping still didn’t have any tracking info 2 days later. I contacted the postmaster and was told that the package was never picked up. Guess who lost the sale and the shipping cost! I was lucky enough to have an understanding customer, but USPS didn’t accept responsibility and you have no recourse against them. Now I hand-deliver all shipments so that I have a receipt and tracking number.

    1. Yeah, this is why I was happy TFAW took care of me this time. The customer service rep did mention I should take it up with my local USPS branch, I laughed and said the last time I did that I lost 2 hours of my life and nothing changed…

My postman is usually good and drops packages off at my door step or in the parcel box. I can only assume it was a different delivery guy that caused this damage by playing Hulk..

    2. I don’t leave comics valued over $20 in my mail box for pick-up anymore….same thing happened where they picked it up but never got scanned…gone w/no accountability.

  4. Wait until everyone sees the #1 and #3 hottest comics this week from Covrprice. Oh many there are going to be some shaking heads…!

  5. I’ve really become a fan of Dan Mora this year.
Like a few artists I like he jumps around a lot, first arc of Buffy, Klaus, Once and Future etc. It’s hard to collect him.
I’ve never read any previous Klaus books before. But I ordered this one. Partially because of the landscape format.
