Poyo’s FOC Highlight Book(s) for 2/17/2020

Another FOC Monday is upon us comic book collectors and speculators. FOC is the last chance to put in your orders with your comic shops and likely get at a discount for pre-ordering.

This Monday’s FOC is a pretty big list. Lots of books on final order with a majority of them as reader books but also some potential hot books.

I couldn’t just keep my picks this week to just one book, just too many to mention.

First of all, if you missed out on pre-ordering Batman #89 that is out this coming Wednesday, you can pre-order the 2nd printing. Could see some heat, might not as I think most will cherish the first print more if this character sticks.

The same is said for Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen #3 (selling for $20 on average already in pre-sales). There’s already a second printing on the way so if you can’t secure a first print, you can still secure a second print.

Pick a copy or two but I wouldn’t invest heavily into these 2nd prints. DC has already made it clear these are just re-colored versions of the first print cover art. Unless there’s new cover art, history tells us they won’t be as in demand as the first prints.

Aggretsuko #1 is getting a second printing (with new cover art), another winner from a few weeks back. As a popular Netflix show and a new cover for the second print, could end up as a winner, so not a bad pickup.

The primary pick for me this week goes to Star Wars Bounty Hunters #1. I got a hold of a advance preview copy and it’s a pretty cool story. Looking forward to more and with the recent success of  The Mandalorian Disney+, those not really into comics could check these out if they’re fans of the show.

I think we need more Bounty Hunter shows and movies to be honest. If the Skywalker saga is over and they’re branching out to new territory for the Star Wars franchise, bounty hunters make for great shows.

There’s a really cool Boba Fett Andrews Variant at cover price as well. This is a must for any Boba Fett fan.

There’s also a pretty awesome looking Michael Golden 1:25 variant as well. Brings back that early 80s nostalgia type of cover art for me. The only thing that would make it better is if they used the 80s cover paper stock and some newsprint for the interiors.

Star Wars Bounty Hunters #1 (Golden Variant)I could go on but I really try to limit these picks to just one. What are you calling your shops to pre-order this Monday? Tell us here or in the forums (where I posted more picks to chatter about).

  1. To add onto your comment about bounty hunter shows being great, I really wish The Witcher had more of a bounty hunter vibe like the game did. I get it that you want a story arc, but I think they could have told a good arc while introducing some really interesting monsters and lore.

  2. For a character they’ve really been pushing and being one of the first characters created exclusively in the book, that Star Wars 16 (1st Valance) is woefully undervalued.
