Covrprice Top 10 List for 3/20/20

Since Covrprice.com  came on the scene, they have become a go to spot for watching eBaytrends on comics. They scour thousands of eBay sales to cultivate data to spotlight the hottest selling comics. Here is this week’s Top Ten Comics: (Please note, potential spoilers do follow, and, these results are for auction that closed last week. )

#1 Year of the Villain Hell Arisen #3 (DC, 2020) Joker’s new henchwoman, Punchline, continues to dominate our Top 10 this week. With a more substantial first appearance in this issue, this is the one book holding its value more than the others. It sold 125 copies, had a 7-day trend of 92% and had a high sale of $56.75 for a NM+ raw copy.

#2 Batman #90 (DC, 2020) The Designer’s full appearance in this issue is selling 82 copies, having a 7-day trend of 85% and a high sale of $29.92 for a NM raw.

#3 Batman #89 (DC, 2020) Punchline’s first cameo appearance as the villain “The Designer”. This issue is slowing down a bit from 143 copies last week to 71 copies this week. It had a 7-day trend of 92% and had a high sale of $132.50 for a CGC 9.8.

#4 Wolverine #1 C2E2 Christopher Variant (Marvel, 2020) John Tyler Christopher’s “fluorescent” Wolverine cover just pops. It’s limited to 3,000 and sold 34 copies this week, had a 7-day trend of 138% and had a BIG high sale of $400 for a CGC 9.8.

#5 The Uncanny X-Men #166 Newsstand (Marvel, 1983) Lockheed, Kitty Pryde’s Dragon, is rumored to appear in the now delayed (again) NEW MUTANTS film. This film has had multiple hurdles to jump to make it to the big screen… more than most. However, we keep getting reason after reason to see this film… and yes, Lockheed is one for us. While this isn’t a big market price seller, it still sold well enough to have BOTH the direct edition AND newsstand edition land on our Top 10…. Which is rare. This Newsstand edition sold 14 copies, had a 7-day trend of 311% and had a high sale of $39.99 for a NM raw.

#6 The Uncanny X-Men #166 Direct Edition (Marvel, 1983) The direct edition sold more copies than the newsstand version with 30 copies, had a 7-day trend of 117% and had a high sale of $69 for a CGC 9.6.

#7 Marvel Fanfare #11 (Marvel, 1983) In the latest BLACK WIDOW trailer, the Iron Maiden mask (comic accurate btw) is briefly seen (blink and you miss it) in the background. She was rumored to be in the film over a year ago, which may have been confirmed in this trailer. Just in case this is right, we won’t go into any more… just in case this conversation turns spoilery. Regardless, his book jumped up a little with this new trailer hint. It’s still unknown IF the mask is worn, so this could end up not moving that much. Try and catch the mask at the 1:10 mark in the trailer. It’s super silvery… kind of like Dr. Doom’s mask. Iron Maiden’s first appearance sold 25 copies, had a 7-day trend of 113% and had a high sale of $135 for a CGC 9.8.

#7 Batman #90 Mattina Variant (DC, 2020) This variant, while still popular, is slowing down both in sales and market value. It sold 34 copies, had a 7-day trend of 82% and had a high raw sale of $22.50 for a raw copy.

#9 Spawn #1 (Image, 1992) It is Spawn… people LOVE them some Spawn. This was also our top-selling book of 2019… and should end up dominating 2020 as well. Other than nostalgia and Todd’s constant content tease… there’s not a lot of reasons why this book consistently sells SO well. It sold 17 copies, had a 7-day trend of 156% and had a high sale of $109.99 for a CGC 9.8.

#10 Justice League #50 (DC, 2016) This issue has a LOT going for it and is one book you should be hunting for: (1) Grail in all her awesomeness, (2) It features the first full appearance of Jessica Cruz as Green Lantern and (3) the reveal of three Jokers in the DC comic verse. The latter is the main driver of this current trend. It sold 20 copies, had a 7-day trend of 123% and had a high sale of $15 for a raw copy.

  1. Seriously, though. I did find a nice NM copy of JL50. This had a cover price of $5.99, I found it for $6.25.

This has been hot and cold a little over the last few years due to Cruz, so even if this 3 Jokers thing doesn’t pan out it’s worth the long term hold of you can find a NM copy for $10 or less.

  2. I came on here somewhat expecting that Spectacular Spiderman Corona issue (the number escapes me at the moment). In many ways I’m glad it’s not on here. I need the escape and don’t need to see that on the comic cover. Maybe 10 years from now, but not now

      1. Really? I didn’t even realize it was the Stool where it originated. I guess I’ll call it the Bleeding Corona Stool since that’s it’s origin. I have no problem labeling this from it’s origin 🙂 🙂 🙂

  3. If anyone read Aggretsuko #1 her officemates were infected by the C-virus. I thought that was ironic.
