Wednesday

Wednesday, (used to be) the best day of the week, new comic book day.

We open things up to hear from you. A free for all.

The 282nd edition of the open forum!

Still almost everything is closed down. They are recommending not to even go to the grocery stores or pharmacy for the next two weeks. Just be safe!

How are you guys making out during the shutdowns?

We are still chugging along. Any news that comes out we are still reporting.

Did you know we have the forum up and running, you can check it out at the official CHU Forum site, go over and sign up.

As always we also want to hear about your weekly pickups.
So, What were your pick ups?

        1. Let’s be honest though… most people can’t even drive while being on the ground, do we really want them in flying objects? I’m kind of glad we don’t have flying cars..

      1. Miss taking the little one to the park and Disney Land. The backyard is OK but even at 2 and a half I think he is starting to get some cabin fever.

        1. We go every year/every other year. We were going to go this year and see the Star Wars park. We probably aren’t going now. Sucks. I hate 2020 so far.

              1. No kidding. Can’t wait for this year to be over! Kinda funny I guess, but myself and a long time friend are big retro game enthusiasts. When the game 2020 baseball from the SNK Neo Geo game out in the early/mid 90’s we swore to play it when th e year 2020 finally came around…Now here we are, it is 2020 and it might be 2021 before we can actually meet up to play the damn thing! The game can be bought on all the new consoles but of course they don’t have online play. Who would have thought back in the 1990’s a freaking global pandemic would shut down the entire planet for who knows how many months…..crazy.

      1. Technically, it would not be the end of the world (unless the Earth literally exploded), it would be the end of humankind.

        1. It would be the end of the world as we know it. And in fact it is the end of the world as we know it. Everything has changed. Things we had it took for granted is now mostly gone. Sure, life does on but the way we used to live is over. Things will change after this. So yes, not the end of the world, just the end of the world as we knew it.

        2. I didn’t say how it was gonna end.. I just pointed out that some nutbag, each and every year thinks this is the year the world is gonna end.. since we developed language to communicate.. 😉

  1. 2020 sucks .and I thought we would have flying cars, that self making pizza from pizza hut&fing robot maids by now .oh and the flying car and food pills the jetsons were a bunch of aholes and lyed to us all.also first it was 2000 the world would end then it was 2012. but I think the world will never be the same after this ends .it it is sad very sad love ya all blind adam out

  2. In the mail, I received a copy of Grains of Sand: 25 Years of the Sandman (exhibition catalog) from the Comic Art Museum. Signed by Mike Dringenberg, Sam Kieth, J.H. Williams III, Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean.

Heavy Metal has another sale going on so I ordered a cheap copy of Taarna TPB Vol 1 Achilleos Cover and a copy of Heavy Metal #291 signed by Coop. I’ve got a comic art coffee table book that I’ve been getting signed by artists in the book. Coop is in the book so this is a kind of a placeholder until either I get a chance to have him sign the book or I get old and tired of waiting, cut the signature, and paste it into the book with edible paste like they use is grade school.

Just received an email that they canceled the Einsturzende Neubauten concert later this year for which I had tickets. A precursor to Nine Inch Nails and all other industrial bands.

        1. I see it contains Richard Corben’s Murkey World as well. Wonder if that was before or after Dark Horse published it. I have the single issues.

  3. My public library gives cardholders free access to Hoopla Digital which has comics, music, ebooks, and video It has an excellent selection or recent stories from all the major publishers. I have recently completed Absolute Carnage, War of the Realms, Harleen, and more. It also has titles like Something is Killing the Children and Once and Future/ Does anyone else use these services as an alternative?

  4. DC just announced deals with two new distributors, a change to Tuesday releases, and shipments starting again April 28th.

Lunar for the western US and Canada
UCS for eastern US and Canada

    Interesting times.

  5. Have the comments on Bleeding Tool been disabled, or is it just me? I wouldn’t put it past them to have locked me out lol.

      1. I was just curious if Rich disabled them lol, I wanted to see them explode with the news DC is bypassing Diamond to distribute. Maybe they just found a way to ban my IP address, who knows.

          1. The last time I visited Bleeding Stool was when they broke the Eternals movie news. It’s been that long. No idea how they keep afloat. Just too biased and politically skewed and too many ads all far too often…For me, politics and comics or politics and video games just don’t go together. I get enough of that in the real world…Comic book time and video game time are mine to keep me sane and with a toddler in the mix that “me” time has gotten shorter and shorter so I don’t want any aggravation when I do get it!

            1. I couldn’t agree more. It’s not the writers so much that bother me (okay, it is), but the particular audience it attracts are a lot of politically slanted Brits/Europeans who don’t get that cultural differences you disagree with are not wrong, and everyone has this hive mind where you’re “whinging” if not in “favour” or whatever nonsense Rich spouts.

Anyway I’m not in a hurry either, was just curious if he threw in the towel and blocked comments for everyone, or just me haha.

  6. Too many pop ups. Can’t go there either. I used to, but it would refresh because of video ads, way to overloaded with non comic clickbait.
