    1. It was down for a while…At least I couldn’t get on with my pc but had no trouble with my phone.

  1. Any spoilers tonight Anthony, or are you still quarantining it for now?

I’ve been meaning to hit my honey hole as it’s actually been open this whole time (single employee/owner exempt from shutting down). But it’s a bit of a hike and with young school kids home and both you wife and I trying to work remotely and keep the kids honest about their school work….it’s just too exhausting. In fact, I work a lot of night hours to make up time as I get so distracted during the day.

With that being said…time to log on to work!

  2. Picked up some UXM issues via for a decent deal – 144-174 (missing a few). Found a handful of marvel premiere issues at my lcs 2/$1 and a NM copy of Batman 612 (2nd Print Sketch) for $17.

  3. Bought a lot of about 20 comics on eBay for a 29.99 starting bid… when I saw they had no boards, I asked the guy, but didn’t try to ask ‘can you cancel my bid’ because I wanted to honor it and figured $2 worth of boards are not a big deal to anybody. He decided to be a little bitch about it (can I say that here?) and complain that the auction clearly stated ‘no boards,’ and his comics always ship well, and if it gets damaged I can just return it. What a fat jerk!

I also got another guy on eBay who was dishonest with his pictures about condition of the comic, I returned it, and now he claims he can’t figure out how to send a refund. eBay has decided in their infinite wisdom that sellers have a week to press two buttons to refund, so I have to wait until Saturday to even be able to contact them.

    What crap!

      1. I think the key to Amazon is finding the good, reliable sellers & sticking to them. Once you establish that…& “if” they show up as a seller of what you are after…all is well.

        1. I have literally found only two sellers on Amazon that do a good job. I think the rest are mostly those who got banned from Ebay over the years.

    1. I have been moving a lot of comics on eBay lately. Haven’t bought too terribly much. But have had three unpaid best offers that I ended up having to cancel and get refunds on. eBay has been a bitch lately (yes you can say that).

      1. I’ve had the worst string of poor comic ebay purchases in my history the last few months. I don’t know if its folks just desperately trying to make a buck, or just my own personal bad luck. So many books that have been labelled “near mint” or “high grade” and are absolutely junk. I’m not one of those “oh lordy there’s a spine tick” either….I’m talking complete folds, bends/huge creases in books. Books that had plenty of pics in a sleeves or mylars that after the fact, i could tell were blatantly taken in a way to hide the defects. I’m so tired of the battle over it as well. I think I’ve finally resolved to either only buy graded, or/also only buy from the sellers I have saved or know will do right. It simply is not worth the headache any longer.

        1. I’ve got a few of those the past couple of months as well. I’m able to press my books so that helped a lot but still.

      2. I imagine all the unpaid offers you’re all getting is people getting their big unemployment checks weekly and spending it on something else before you accept or even after you accept. You really don’t get in any trouble for this I don’t think unpaid buyer marks are even viewable or given out anymore every since you can purchase on eBay as a guest with no account.

          1. Yeah, you need eBay account to buy things. You don’t need an actual Paypal account linked to your own bank accounts, you can checkout as guest when actually paying via Paypal I believe.

            1. Sign out your eBay account go to something and hit buy it now it will prompt you to sign in or continue as a guest accidentally bought something this way when my account was signed out.

  4. “Bought a lot of about 20 comics on eBay for a 29.99 starting bid… when I saw they had no boards, I asked the guy, but didn’t try to ask ‘can you cancel my bid’ because I wanted to honor it and figured $2 worth of boards are not a big deal to anybody. He decided to be a little bitch about it (can I say that here?) and complain that the auction clearly stated ‘no boards,’ and his comics always ship well, and if it gets damaged I can just return it. What a fat jerk!”

Why does that make him a “fat jerk” .. ?? He disclosed it, he offered a return if needed and explained he packs well .. to me, that sounds like good customer service .. descriptions and questions by customers should always be asked and read prior to bidding ..

The jerks are the customers that decide to whine after the fact .. because they did not fully examine what they were buying ..

Also, how do you know he’s fat .. ??

    1. I have to agree, always read the fine print. If calling someone a bitch when they have to point out what the description clearly states, then I can’t really side with you this round.

      1. I never liked the words “fine print” .. I can’t speak for anyone else, but my print is normal or larger .. 😉

        1. Hehe.. I was just saying in more of a general sense. When it comes to eBay, always read the description and if it’s not clear, send the seller a question before buying..

    2. I’m not sure how hard you think it is to add boards when he has 1000s of other comics for sale, but you sound like one of those people on reddit who has nothing better to do but complain about someone else’s post… Seller/comic store owner is not always king, yes he’s being a little bitch in this case.

      1. Why is he a “bitch”? You openly admitted he stated in the description and details he provides no bags and boards for each comic but then call him a bitch about reiterating what he’s already stated up front about not shipping the books with bags and boards? I’m lost in your logic there..

        1. Poyo, I think you’re a good guy but you’re pushing it on this one… he’s being cheap as hell and had the nerve to get nasty about it when I asked him nicely before it shipped, instead of demanding or else cancel. He made me feel like an idiot about the purchase and tell me off, which was already overpriced, when he’s such a tightwad he couldn’t grab under $2 worth of boards. I can’t stand the entitlement from sellers who act like that when I’m paying them.

Either way if you disagree, fine, but this place is cool for the reason that I don’t normally feel attacked and have to justify everything I say the way one does everywhere else. I wasn’t even making some controversial statement, this was just venting a personal incident that Willie chose as yet another thing to snarl at me to get off his lawn about… if you’re going to pick this hill to die on, it opens the floodgates.

          1. And every other comic he had for sale in his ebay lots had boards, in case I didn’t make it clear… the guy was thumbing his nose at me practically, and then you guys dog pile me together.

            1. Every other comic isn’t the issue though. You bid on books that clearly stated had no bags and boards in the description. Just give him a chance, bag and board them yourself after the purchase and they hopefully arrived in the same condition they left his hands. You can’t call someone a tightwad when they clearly told you what was for sale. If the bags and boards that are $2 is no big deal, doesn’t that fall on you as well, making a bigger deal out of the whole situation? Seems you escalated a non-issue into an issue that could have been avoided.

Maybe the guy is a jerk but I’m still gonna side with him from the beginning, he clearly stated no bags and boards in the auction itself, he has every right to just say “no” after it’s ended and you need to pay for something you bid on.

          2. I’m not pushing anything. I’m hearing one side of the story. You’ve provided nothing of screenshots of your interactions from this seller and I’m only going based on what I’ve been provided. Comics for sale, no bags and boards.. you ask for bags and boards (did you offer to buy them at least), he reiterates the description says no bags and boards. Now he’s a “bitch” and “fat jerk” based on what? He just repeating what the description already stated?

Now if the books were overpriced, why’d you bid on them in the first place? I’m just trying to understand why you’re calling someone a fat jerk and bitch (do you even know what he looks like and why resort to such personal low level attacks).

I’m pretty reasonable and when I sell on eBay myself, I try to put in the description exactly what the buyer is getting. If I’m asked for something that is clearly stated is “Not part of the sale”, then unless someone says they’re willing to pay for something I clearly said they’re not getting, I’d have just responded with, “the auction comes with no bags and boards”.. I’ve even just ignored questions that have already been answered.

I think, since he says if they were damaged in transit he’d accept returns, just give the seller a chance. If providing bags and boards is “no big deal or cost” why are you putting that on the seller? Just use your own bags and boards when they arrive.

            1. “just venting a personal incident that Willie chose as yet another thing to snarl at me to get off his lawn about…”

Thank you so much .. it’s taken years of effort for me to perfect the Art .. 🙂

however, I have never visited this Reddit thing ..

              1. “however, I have never visited this Reddit thing ..”

Don’t bother. It’s just a big ‘ol cesspool on the internet filled with internet trolls. Last time I got directed there and scrolled through some comments, there was no signs of any intelligent life.

            2. You are pushing it and I have no clue why since you have no skin in the game, but I don’t appreciate it. What rubs me the wrong way is that you’re supposed to set the tone of the site, I clearly felt sore enough about this personal anecdote to vent (what the Wednesday Forum is supposedly for), and you pick this to get riled up about when I wasn’t criticizing the site, content, or you. I didn’t even name the guy so it’s not like I ‘shamed’ him.

I’m sick of this culture where every time someone sees someone write something they don’t like they loudly try to call out the other party, when you cannot know for certain you’re in the right. I feel correct on this one that the guy was an unreasonable jackass who made me feel bad about a purchase I honored when it was unnecessary. The fact is Willie has been nasty to me several times (which is probably his default state, has no clue who I am) and instead of telling him once to keep it cool, you join in and start coming at me through his reply, which is weak and overly cliquish. If you want to chase people off your site because you don’t like something they said, it’s disappointing that you’ve turned a relatively safe corner into every other part of the internet by telling off any perceived ‘injustice.’ I would never do that to people on my own site, not even if they were jerky to me personally.

              1. Hey Bandrew, sounds to me like the issue may have been a shipping thing. It’s easier and cheaper to send the books without bags and boards. And it could be the cost involved for the bags and boards, like you said it’s $2 worth which would cut in to his profits. I have sold comics to Webuycomics.com and didn’t bag and boards them. Instead I packed in to bricks of comics (alternating spines to keep from crushing and shrink wrapping them.) doing multiple bricks of comics in a box really saved money in shipping.

              2. “You are pushing it and I have no clue why since you have no skin in the game, but I don’t appreciate it.”

I still fail to see what I”m pushing. I’m simply responding with my own opinion on a matter you shared publicly.

“What rubs me the wrong way is that you’re supposed to set the tone of the site,”

What tone? Do I have to agree with every comment made? I simply don’t agree with your assessment of what you shared.

“I clearly felt sore enough about this personal anecdote to vent (what the Wednesday Forum is supposedly for),”

So vent, but expect others to chime in as well (and you might not agree with them if they don’t fully agree with your own stance on the subject). It’s what happens when you publicly comment on a public website.

“and you pick this to get riled up about when I wasn’t criticizing the site, content, or you. I didn’t even name the guy so it’s not like I ‘shamed’ him.”

Who’s riled up? Nothing I’ve stated should be taken with any type of emotions. If you could hear my response in person, I’m sure you wouldn’t think so. I think you need to learn to not invoke emotions into responses as I’m not riled up, you seem to be the person riled up.

“I’m sick of this culture where every time someone sees someone write something they don’t like they loudly try to call out the other party, when you cannot know for certain you’re in the right.”

Loudly? LIKE WHEN SOMEONE TYPES IN ALL CAPS TO INDICATE THEY’RE LOUD OR YELLING? I never said I was right. I’m going by the information provided. You publicly stated that a seller stated no bags or boards in an auction you bid on and won. You asked him, he said no (supposedly in a nasty way yet you have not shared how he replied). What’s the deal then? You’re upset but what did you expect from the seller? He said no bags and boards, they made that clear. Like I said earlier, maybe he is a jerk or responded in a jerk manner since he’s just repeating what he already stated in his auction details.

“I feel correct on this one that the guy was an unreasonable jackass who made me feel bad about a purchase I honored when it was unnecessary.”

But yet you have no shared any of this sellers responses for us to judge for ourselves. But even then, all I’ve stated is, seller claims no bags and boards, you shouldn’t expect bags and boards.

“The fact is Willie has been nasty to me several times (which is probably his default state, has no clue who I am) and instead of telling him once to keep it cool, you join in and start coming at me through his reply, which is weak and overly cliquish.”

Again, I think you invoke emotions into responses which makes the response seem worse than it is. Just words on a screen. Don’t read it how you think they’re saying it.

“If you want to chase people off your site because you don’t like something they said, it’s disappointing that you’ve turned a relatively safe corner into every other part of the internet by telling off any perceived ‘injustice.’”

I never said I didn’t like what you said. I simply said I don’t fully agree with you. There’s a huge difference in what your stating and what I’ve implied thus far.

“I would never do that to people on my own site, not even if they were jerky to me personally.”

Again, trust me, we deal with a lot of jerks. Not once did I feel I was out of bounds. You just seem a little bent out of shape cause no one has stepped up and agreed with you. It’s okay, you feel the way you do but it doesn’t change the fact that I’m going to side with the seller. He’s not obligated to give you bags and boards on your purchase. Maybe he did respond in a jerk manner but I don’t know since you have yet to share his word by word response and correspondences here.

If you want to speak offline more on this topic, then by all means email me or DM on the forums. But at this point, agree to disagree and move on.

    1. Because nobody cares about the under-ordered IDW Marvel Action books until some strange market demand kicks in for them.. cause there’s absolutely nothing else out there to spec on. 😉

        1. Yeah.. but good doesn’t always mean spec hit and great flip. I love great reads, sometimes they’re more rewarding than flipping the book for more money. But then again, flip profit lets me buy more great reads.. 🙂

          1. I wish those kid focused books were available in Walmart’s for kids to discover comics like I did back in 1992.

            1. As a kid, I got 95% of my comics either from the local:

              or

Both had the awesome spinner racks… had to get the minty copies early before the other kids would pull down on the comics to create spine creases.

              1. I got a ton of my comics as a kid from the Safeway spinner rack. Later, there was a gas station (believe it or not had the best fresh Chinese food) that Friday nights I would pick up General Tso’s chicken and a stack of comics.

      1. A few times I’ve been in an LCS and I saw a mother with younger kids buying those IDW Marvel books, after specifically asking for kid friendly comics. Those IDW books are a great introductory, I think, for a younger generation.

        1. Yeah, they are geared towards kids. Sadly Dragons Lair my local shop has a whole section of the kids comics yet most go untouched (only the adults grab the hot books). It’d be nice if they lowered the prices on kids comics so parents and or kids would be more inclined to pick them up.

          1. It does get expensive to buy for the young ones. My boys each have their small comic pulls and I always remind them to take care of their books. Their all used and abused, but at least I know they are reading them.

  5. Possible shortages? Perhaps distribution problems during early weeks of reopening businesses? Also retailers may be reluctant to order much during a recession?

  6. Yellow Hulk is from the Marvel vs Capcom game…
I can’t believe Marvel let IDW scoop the1st appearance
