Poyo’s FOC Highlight Books for Last Call 02/15/2021

FOC is the last chance to put in your orders with your comic shops and likely get at a discount for pre-ordering.

I hope the second issue gets better, I thought it was a bit choppy with the dialogue and the unrealistic feel and reaction from the characters of finding a suit that turns them into a super hero but the 2nd printing is on FOC this week for Radiant Black #1.

Radiant Black #1 (2 Ptg)Another Image book that’s on FOC this Monday is Karmen #1, which I’ve been looking forward to. I was handed a review copy so I’m hoping to find time to sit down and read.

Karmen #1 (Cover A - March)Amazing Spider-Man #55 gets the blue treatment with it’s 3rd printing. I don’t expect much from this one, it’s a buy to stash with the first print and second prints. I’m sure there will be a 4th printing…

Amazing Spider-Man #55 (3rd Ptg Gleason Variant) LrChildren of the Atom #1 I think has a lot of anticipation from readers and collectors, potential firsts, etc. So might not be a bad pickup or keep a watchful eye on them. I don’t anticipate these being hard to come by though on release day.

Children of Atom #1I accidently put this one on last weeks FOC, not sure how that happened as I normally pull up Previews FOC list to go off of but anyways, here it is again, Proctor Valley Road #1.

There’s a pretty slick looking TFAW Variant available as well and won’t cost you an arm and a leg, for those that are into exclusive store variants.

Proctor Valley Road #1 (Donovan TFAW Exclusive)

Now I just noticed that Cult of Dracula #1, another book  I pointed out last week for FOC is on FOC this week. So maybe Previews did fail me when viewing last week when compiling my list. Not sure what happened as “Next Week” is grayed out so it’s not like I saw this weeks list last week.. Hmmm…

Anyways, yeah.. here it is again.

  1. Hi guys would like your opinion on this .My daughter ordered a 50 dollar gift card from Midtown comics for me Dec.6th.We never received it and it was a Christmas present. She contacted Midtown in January and they said check with post office. The tracking link for the order led to no history of being shipped. So i got involved on phone and they said they dont ship gift cards with tracking.I asked them to cancel card and email new code They said they couldn’t do that.I gave up and my daughter called her credit card company and they gave her, her money back. Now a week ago i start getting emails from Spider Dan at Midtown telling me to pay the charge back or they will not ship my orders.I was wondering why my orders were not shipping.I told him in email what had happened that this is my account and orders and have nothing to do with my daughters gift card that was never shipped.I am in disbelief over this and very mad.I called Midtown store and person i spoke to is emailing my story and contact to Midtown online department on Monday he couldn’t understand this either. So basically they are holding my orders hostage for 50 bucks and i have been a customer for 14 years.Just crazy and i think illegal.

    1. I wouldn’t spend another cent with them. Cancel your orders and get your money back. There are plenty of reputable online comic shops to choose from now.

    2. Seems odd. It shouldn’t be hard for them to cancel the gift code so it’s not used and refund the amount.

All I can say is, did your daughter get all the correspondences in writing or was it over the phone? You can use all this against them in the dispute with the credit card company.

      1. Yes She 1st asked them to cancel lost card and send a new gift code in email. They said they can’t do that.My daughter got her 50 back from her credit card company weeks ago.Now they are holding up my orders and telling me to reverse the payback from my daughters credit card or they won’t ship my orders.

          1. That is F’d up big time. Why the hell would they not have a tracking # on a gift card? That’s asking for trouble…

            1. Spoke to Spider Dan today and told him i wanted my orders shipped and my account is mine and has nothing to do with gift card my daughter did not receive. He said because i called on phone for my daughter I was involved. He said unless i paid for the 50 dollar gift card he wouldn’t ship my orders.A while back Midtown shipped 2 orders of damaged comics and gave me a hard time on return. The partial replacements I received where damaged too.Spider Dan said he packed them himself so they couldn’t be damaged.I basically gave up.Today he said I was a problem customer and i went off on him.He just killed my account and banned me from Midtown comics after 12 years of business with them.My Comic Shop here i come!

              1. Spider Dan didn’t pack those books, they have a completely different warehouse and customer service teams to my knowledge. Also, give TFAW a go, they would never do this to you. Their customer service out of the really big shops is top notch.

                1. Thanks I will order from,TFAW also…..now I have to call Paypal to get my money back from Midtown their loss on my 4 orders. They locked my account.

                1. I don’t think I’ve ordered anything from Midtown since the summer. I use to buy half and half from them and TFAW but all the delays from Midtown with damages and shitty customer service left a sour aftertaste for me, I just kind of stopped going there to order stuff since.

  2. While you are at it..

Get that “STAR WARS LEGENDS OLD REPUBLIC OMNIBUS HC.” There are 2 different covers and yes, it does cost $125. You are probably thinking,  “Wow.! That is a lot to spend,” right? Well it does collect,  STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC #1-50, STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC – WAR #1-5, STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC HANDBOOK and material from STAR WARS: KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC/REBELLION #0 ! That would probably be a total of 57 different comics to find. Divide the $125 by 57 and you are paying about $2.20 a comic, and it is all collected in 1 big format so you don’t have to try and go to 57 different sources, pay each source for shipping+ tax. This is how I am justifying on whether I should drop a certain amount of $ on Omnibuses, TPB, etc etc.

BTW, TFAW does have the Star Wars Old Republic Omnibus for under $90! Still need convincing? Let me remind you that the Darth Vader Omnibus is currently going from $240-$300+ on the secondary market.

    1. I was sitting on the fence about pick these up. I’m taking your comment as an omen and pulling the trigger on each cover. I figure I can sell one to pay for the other.. The comic shop I pre-order from offers them at 50% off.

      1. Here is my recent order list on trades I’m getting.. aside from the Star Wars Dark Horse/Epic Collections books I’ve been trying to gobble up

        Annihilation Conquest Omnibus
        ALIENS OMNIBUS Vol. 1
ALIENS ORIGINAL YEARS OMNIBUS HC VOL 02
Street Fighter Memorial Archive Beyond the World
        Captain Marvel vs Rogue TP
        Predator Marvel Omnibus
