CovrPrice.Com Runners-Up for 9/10/21

As promised, the Covrprice.com runners-up list. The second half of the Top 20.

#11 HARBINGER #1 | VALIANT | 1992
So, this was an interesting book to see this week. If you pay close attention to market sales (like we do), then you would have clearly noticed Valiant books flying off the digital shelves. Last week, there was a massive boost in quantity & price for key valiant books… specifically HARBINGER, MANOWAR, NINJAK & TUROK. There have been no announcements or recent Valiant news. Though, this much market movement typically means someone knows something and is buying up the high-grade copies before news hits. If you recall, Paramount currently holds the content rights for several of Valiant’s properties. Does this mean a Paramount+ announcement is around the corner? Time will tell. OR, was this just a weird flurry of purchases from Valiant fans with money to burn? Regardless, this book had the highest trend and sold 15 copies with a 7-day trend of 142% and had a high sale of $1500 for a CGC 9.8.

#12 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #544 | MARVEL | 2007
Collectors are starting to slow down on the ONE MORE DAY/ NO WAY HOME speculation. Despite selling 34 copies with a 7-day trend of 133% and a high sale of $330 for a CGC 9.8, this is still down from the 75 copies sold last week and a high of $500 for a 9.8. Raws have also dropped to around $14.

#13 NOCTERA #1 2ND PRINT | IMAGE | 2021
As mentioned, all the low-hanging and affordable copies of Noctera disappeared last week, including this 2nd print. It sold 24 copies, had a 7-day trend of 165% and had a high sale of $30 for a raw copy.

#14 DEVIL DINOSAUR #1 | MARVEL | 1978
With the recent Marvel Comics announcement of a new Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur series as part of their upcoming events through February 2022, we saw a nice bump in sales for Devil Dinosaur #1 (first appearance of Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy). This book has always been a fan favorite with the fantastic Jack Kirby cover, and the “feel good” story of a boy helping nurse a badly burned dinosaur back to health. This issue was regularly floating around the $20 – $40 mark for higher grade copies but this past week we saw 26 copies sell with a 7-day trend of 129% and had a high sale of $179 raw and $550 for a CGC 9.8.

#15 DARK AGES #1 RYAN STEGMAN (1:50) | MARVEL | 2021
This 1:50 definitely seemed tough to find in stores, which forced high ratio collectors to buy their copy online. It sold 16 copies, had a 7-day trend of 184% and had a high sale of $86.55 for a raw copy.

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #546 | MARVEL | 2008
In the SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME trailer, there was a “blink and you’ll miss it” shot of a delivery truck with F.E.A.S.T. on the side. This led many to the obvious conclusion that if F.E.A.S.T. exists in the MCU, then so does Martin Li aka Mr. Negative. While Mr. Negative had a cameo appearance in the 2007 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN FCBD (SWING SHIFT) issue, his full appearance as both Martin Li and Mr. Negative are in this issue. More directly, it also features the first appearance of F.E.A.S.T. This quick reference helped move 25 copies with a 7-day trend of 117% and had a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.6. Will we see him in NO WAY HOME, probably not. This is probably just a fun Easter Egg.

#17 DARKHAWK #1 MICO SUAYAN (1:25) | MARVEL | 2021
This new Darkhawk series piqued many collector’s interests and all the variants seem to be selling well. Especially the Mike Deodato Jr. 1:50, which is selling for $80 to $100+ raw. However, this 1:25 is a little more accessible and sold 29 copies with a 7-day trend of 92% and a high sale of $40 for a raw copy.

#18 AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #365 |MARVEL | 1992
We know 2099 is coming to INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE #2. This first preview appearance of 2099 in this issue has been moving for a while now. However, sales really picked up this week with 17 copies sold, a 7-day trend of 151% and a high sale of $140 for a CGC 9.8.

#19 BLOODSHOT #6 | VALIANT | 1993
As we mentioned in #11, there was a surge of key Valiant comics selling recently. This first appearance of Colin King (who’s first as Ninjak is in issue #7) is one of those. It sold 12 copies, had a 7-day trend of 209% and had a high sale of $80 for a CGC 9.8.

#20 SPIDER-MEN #1 | MARVEL | 2012
There are persistent rumors that Miles COULD show up in FAR FROM HOME (possibly as a post-credit scene). With that expectation, collectors are investing in the first time Miles and (616) Peter met in this issue. It sold 20 copies, had a 7-day trend of 106% and had a high sale of $55.47 for a raw copy.

  1. Picked up the Bloodshot 6 and 7 a few weeks ago just because I’m quite impressed with the new series. Something told me to grab them on the cheap in the back of my head somewhere. The Javier Pulido art is great and he’s very creative with page layouts.
