Poyo’s Spec & Picks for February 2nd, 2022

Welcome to this weeks spec. This is where we pick the winners each week we (or shall I say myself) think will be spec worthy, a great read or just cool looking art on the cover.

Marvel rules this weeks picks while most of the other publishers got a lot of reader books making their ways onto the shelves for the most part.

Marvel Picks

Alien #9 Rahzzah Variant. Rahzzah has been knocking the covers out of the park lately. Don’t sleep on this one, even if it doesn’t heat up, it’s just a cool cover to have in the personal collection.

The Shaw ratio variant is also pretty top notch I think if you can find for cheap.

Amazing Spider-Man #88 introduces the new Goblin Queen. Pre-sales on the secondary are already ticking upwards.. The Gleason 1:10 Design might be a worthy pickup if you can find for cheap as well.

Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5) is a must for obvious reasons. The Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5) (Rahzzah Knights Ren Variant) is also a must for those looking to collect all the connecting variants by Rahzzah for this title.

There’s also:

Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5) (Giangiordano Warriors Variant)
Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5) (Anindito Connecting Variant)
Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5) (Pham Syndicate Variant)
Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5) (Crain Enemies Dawn Variant)

Star Wars Crimson Reign #2 (of 5)

The other Star Wars must is Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #1 (of 5) which gives us a pretty kick ass Gist regular cover.

Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #1 (of 5) (Ferry Variant)
Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #1 (of 5) (Wijngaard Variant)
Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #1 (of 5) (Sliney Connecting Variant)
Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #1 (of 5) (Attraction Variant)

Star Wars Halcyon Legacy #1 (of 5)

And lastly, Star Wars High Republic #14 is a must for most as well. The Star Wars High Republic #14 (McKone Variant) is already sold out at Midtown, but still available at TFAW.

DC Picks

Arkham City the Order of the World #5 (of 6) (Cover A – Sam Wolfe Connelly) has been a pretty good read so far I think. Been digging the covers as well. Worth the pickup for the read if you haven’t been so already.

Arkham City the Order of the World #5 (of 6) (Cover B – Derrick Chew Card Stock Variant) – Pretty cool Chew cover as well.

Arkham City the Order of the World #5 (of 6) (Cover A - Sam Wolfe Connelly)

Monkey Prince #1 (of 12) (Cover A – Bernard Chang) is a check out. It’s gonna go either way I think with this one so the writing has to be top notch.

Monkey Prince #1 (of 12) (Cover B – Stanley Artgerm Lau Card Stock Variant)
Monkey Prince #1 (of 12) (Cover C – Team Zao Dao Card Stock Variant) – The best cover I think!
Monkey Prince #1 (of 12) (Cover D – 1:25 Habchi Hicham Card Stock Variant)
Monkey Prince #1 (of 12) (Cover E – 1:50 Dustin Nguyen Card Stock Variant)

Monkey Prince #1 (of 12) (Cover A - Bernard Chang)

Indie and Small Publisher Picks

Crossover #11 (Cover A – Shaw) is probably gonna generate some buzz. It features a character crossover from a very very popular Image title that was also a hit AMC television show as well.. hint hint! Already sold out at Midtown (all covers).

Crossover #11 (Cover A - Shaw)

Is it just me or does it seem like Geiger 80-Page Giant #1 (Cover A – Frank) took forever to come out? Seems like it went through a bunch of FOC delays and changed dates, etc. Anyways, it’s finally here for you Geiger fans.

Geiger 80-Page Giant #1 (Cover A - Frank)

New Masters #1 (of 6) (Cover A – Shof) is a new Image title that might be worthy checking out.

New Masters #1 (of 6) (Cover B – Shof)

New Masters #1 (of 6) (Cover A - Shof)

Nocterra #7 (Cover A – Daniel & Maiolo) is back with a new story arc. Lots of variants for this one. Good ‘old Image, saving all those trees due to shortages on additional printings to use on variants and such!

Nocterra #7 (Cover B – Fabok & Anderson)
Nocterra #7 (Cover C – Dani & Simpson)
Nocterra #7 (Cover D – Daniel & Maiolo)
Nocterra #7 (Cover E – (10 Copy Dani Virgin Variant)
Nocterra #7 (Cover F – 25 Copy Fabok B&W Virgin Variant)

Nocterra #7 (Cover A - Daniel & Maiolo)

Primos #1 (of 4) (Cover A – Johnson) might be a decent read. Already sold out at Midtown. I like the idea in this one but again, the writing must keep me entertained or it’ll get dropped quickly like a bad habit.

Primos #1 (of 4) (Cover B – Deodato Jr)

Primos #1 (of 4) (Cover A - Johnson)
