Comic Picks of the Week for Delivery 8/3/22

Every week, tons of new books hit the stands, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Here are the picks of the week for delivery this Wednesday

New #1’s
Golden Rage #1 – Golden Girls meets Battle Royale…. pretty cool read, had a chance to read a preview copy.

Dead Lucky #1 – New book in the Radiant Black Massive-verse

Demon Wars Iron Samurai #1 – Peach Momoko’s take on the Avengers in the Demon Wars universe.

Hawk The Slayer #1 – Garth Ennis sword and sorcery tale.

Sacrament #1 – New AWA story, The Exorcist meets Alien in this sci-fi/horror story. In the year 3000, Mankind abandoned Earth and fled into outer space. Now, a disgraced priest, called into action to perform an exorcism on a remote space colony, is about to discover that no matter how far you run, you can’t escape your demons, and the Devil is, in fact, real

Vineyard #1 – New Aftershock series, THE VINEYARD is a family-owned winery that sows and reaps by the blessing of the great god of wine and revelry, Dionysus. However, the Vines family’s patron god requires complete devotion in the form of four sacrificial killings a year before each harvest. This has been done in unfettered obeisance. But all of that changed when the family’s patriarch, Didache Vines, was in a horrible accident that left him paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Now, the sacrificial and murderous duties of the Vines family have fallen to wife and matriarch, Maranatha Vines. With harvest season fast approaching and the family short of their annual sacrificial killings, Maranatha’s struggle with her conscience puts all of her family – husband, son and daughter – in jeopardy.

New 1st Appearances
Batman White Knight Presents Red Hood #1 – New Robin debuts, we caught a cameo of her previously. The 1:25 Variant has her on the cover, kinda…

Dark Crisis #3 – Red Canary makes her first appearance. DC has had some minor hits with new characters lately. There are 1:25 variants, 1:50 variants, and 1:100 variants available, but the Design Variant may be the winner as Red Canary is on the cover.

For the Cover

Batman #126 Guillem March Card Stock Cover – Nice homage to Amazing Spiderman 308/316 on this one.

Mind MGMT Bootleg #2 Dan Brereton Cover – Damn I love Dan Brereton art.

New Champion Of SHAZAM #1 Joshua Middleton Card Stock – Just an awesome Middleton Mary Marvel cover.

Notable Second Prints
Eight Billion Genies #1 2nd Ptg – Super hot new series. Already selling for $15 on eBay. Check Mycomicshop tonight for copies.

Tales Of Suspense #57 Facsimile Edition – First appearance of Hawkeye gets the facsimile treatment

Small Press Pick of the Week
Survival Street #1 – Sesame Street meets the A – Team. Survival Street is an unrepentant action satire tearing through a dystopia packed with economic and humanistic cautionary tales. After an unbridled wave of corporations take over America, the country is left completely deregulated and effectively carved up into feudal states where billionaires and businesses make their own laws. Among the wreckage, mass privatization shuts down public broadcasting, forcing all the beloved “edutainers” out on the down and dirty streets. One group of them stick together, determined to keep helping kids across the country and do it by becoming an A-Team-esque band of mercenaries fighting for (and educating!) kids in the crumbling, corporate war zone of New Best America.

Pick of the Week
Edge Of Spider-Verse #1 – With the upcoming Spider-Verse movie coming up, all it will take is one or two of these new characters to appear to cause the book to blow up. Sticking with the A cover, as there will be so many variants, but the Bengal has sold out several places and may still be a good pickup. Spider-Rex is already getting an action figure, so some of these are here to stay. The 1:10 Variant and the 1:25 Variant are still showing available at TFAW.
