A new writer has been picked up to write the final story arc for Thief of Thieves that was originally launched by Robert Kirkman, was even optioned at one point.
Brett Lewis will be picking this up to end it all from the sounds of things.

Long ago (2013, seems like forever ago) when I was getting back into comics, I picked up Aphrodite IX from Image/Top Cow and thoroughly enjoyed it being a science fiction geek that I am.
This was one of the series that got me digging more into independent books.

New comic book day is upon us once again. The day we comic collecting nerds and comic flippers look forward to each and every week. Even slow weeks, we still find ourselves heading out to the local shops in hopes of landing some great books.

It’s once again the time for New Comic Book day! This week seems to be a bit more exciting than a few of the previous weeks. We know the strong start of 2018 couldn’t last into all weeks and months, but it sure has been fun so far.

Welcome once again to Poyo’s picks of the week. I also go as far as to tell people to avoid some book or books as well. I’m cool like that and likely hated by writers or artists who worked hard for someone like me to tell others to not buy their junk.

For all you Donny Cates fans who love his independent work along with his new Marvel work, this one’s for you.

Each week tons of new comics hit the shelves, each with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot at heating up. Oh snap.. that’s how Anthony starts his weekly picks. My Bad!

Happy Pi Day Everyone, well, tomorrow will be pi day! It’s the first slow week of 2018, at least that’s how it seems. That won’t stop us from spec’ing and drek’ing now will it?

This year has been exciting so far. Lots of specs (and lots of drek), lots of heat and surprisingly Marvel has been the big winners this year so far, even with a few surprise hits (Prelude book.. who would have thought a prelude book would heat up).

Life gets in the way of all the things I’d rather be doing. I’m just now getting around to my picks less than 2 hours when we publish them usually. So it’s going to be short and sweet this week as I don’t even have an Indie Pick but rather two small publisher picks instead.

This year sure has been exciting so far for selling comics and who would have thought the biggest books are being pumped out by Marvel.

So hot off the press is a release from Image. Looks like the new Kirkman and de Felici book Oblivion Song will be over printed to avoid second prints and beyond. Talk about killing the spec value of a book.

It’s Valentines new comic week, hopefully the books show us some love on specs and reads like we feel entitled to with our loved ones. Lucky for me I’ve already done Valentines with the missus about a week back since she’s busy on her current show.

It’s that time again. First month down in 2018 and now we find ourselves in February after a really exciting January for comic speculation and flipping. Hopefully February keeps up in the positive trend of great books, great flips and the comic world keeping us entertained.

The fifth Wednesday of the month, the lame duck Wednesday we should call it. The day most publishers put out crap or nothing since they try to schedule their monthly releases based on the normal 4 weeks per month.

Bestselling writer Aleš Kot (ZERO, GENERATION GONE), artist Danijel Žeželj (STARVE), and Eisner-winning colorist Jordie Bellaire (REDLANDS, PRETTY DEADLY) tap into current political angst with their all-new maxi-series, DAYS OF HATE. In order to keep up with growing readership for the gritty American thriller tragedy DAYS OF HATE #1 is being rushed back to print.

Last week was exciting for us comic flippers and speculators. If you missed one book, there was likely another book you could grab to flip and sell. One surprise I think was Avengers with the Voyager appearance. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Avengers book heat up in the same week of release like #676 did.
