Yeah! Wednesday! Each week hundreds of new comics come out and each week we pick the ones we think stand out from the crowd and have the best shot of rising in value. Here are this weeks, for delivery for 1/22/14.
The one everyone is getting anyway:
Origin II #2– Last month we saw Mr. Sinister in the back ground. This month, we get Wolverine’s first interaction with Victor Creed, aka Sabertooth. Marvel is printing to order on their books so they sell out. Which means this will be sold out at Diamond.
The one with the star power:
Empire of the Dead #1– Zombies are still hot whether you love them or hate them, and no one does Zombies bigger than George Romero. The father of the modern zombie story brings the next chapter in his zombie movie series to comics.
The outside chance:
Hacktivist #1– Boom Studios / Archaia bring Alyssa Milano’s cyber-punk story to life. We get to find out who is the boss in this small press pick.
The Walking Dead Issue:
The Walking Dead #120– We always pick The Walking Dead because they continue to sell out and because books from 90 and up are still good sellers. This is part 6 of the ALL OUT WAR story line, which is the best Walking Dead story in a long time.
The small press pick:
Bad Ass #1 from Dynamite, being touted as “What if Kick Ass and Deadpool had a baby” odd ball title might get picked up enough to be interesting.
Not a huge week for us, we are trying to score more Manifest Destiny #1 and #2 this week as well. Tell us what you are spec-ing on this week.

It is true that Marvel prints to order but Diamond WILL carry way way more extra copies of something if they think its super high profile like ORIGIN or a big x-over mini series etc. so Origin is way over printed!
Agreed that Diamond will carry a big over print. This is Marvels flagship book and I fully expect it to sell out eventually.
I think Origin II #3 or #4 will be the ones to get as ordering levels off. My store has dozens of copies of #1 lying around so I don’t expect there to be many copies of the later issues. A common problem at many stores.
I picked up #1 just to grab but I didn’t bother with #2. I’m sort of Wolverine’d out nowadays!
I am dead pooled out.
speaking of deadpool, I think I am going to drop that title, its starting to get to weird and too lame. Why cant marvel just make him a crazy bad ass s.o.b. and chill a lot on the humor side of the character. So much potential wasted. Ohhh I forgot this is marvel after all 🙁
Rocket Raccoon is kind of going down the same road with his Bam I murdered you thing.

I’m looking forward to Hacktivist this week, plus Alyssa is my girlfriend, she just doesn’t realize it yet! 😉
Hacktivist looked like the most interesting book not already on my pull list.
She cheating on me again?
That’s my baby’s mama, lol. It’s crazy how many business ventures she has!
Can’t believe you don’t have “Deadly Class” here. Seems to be getting rave reviews.
Hey Jeff. I was waiting for that comment to come in. Yes, it is getting rave reviews and is definitely on my pickup list and will be featured tonight. The reason it wasn’t a pick of the week was due to the fact it has at least 6 variant covers. Now do not get me wrong, I have spotlighted books with a ton of variants, but I am trying more and more to break away from Image #1’s as picks of the week when they have a ton of variants.
Yeah, I’ve managed to get all of the Black Science variant covers now but I only opted to get Cover A of “Deadly Class”.. this “half dozen variants” that Remender’s issues are getting a little out of hand recently..
nice point. could be a slow burn
I picked it up. Going to put up a video of my weeks new comics haul i think. Slow day at work for me.
any idea on print run of black widow? just wondering if this could be a “hawkeye” comic. 2nd issue reminded me an awful lot.
I enjoyed #1 myself, haven’t read #2 yet but I skimmed through and the art isn’t really my favorite style.
If you like Hawkeye style writing, pick up Superior Foes of Spider-Man. I love that comic, it’s a fun read for sure. At times I’m almost enjoying it more than Hawkeye.
Foes is great, I sometimes find that its better than Hawkeye also. I really do like this Black Widow series so far. It didn’t seem like my shop had many copies. They only had one left this week and I’m sure it got snagged up with an issue 2. It would be nice to see another Marvel book do as good as Hawkeye on the secondary market.
