Comics Picks of the week for delivery 4/16/14

Wow What a strange week last week was. Invincible 110 was awesome. Turned out to be a great flip. No way to predict things like that especially when there was no real advanced warning from the solicitations. Anyway, here are the picks of the week for delivery 4/16/14.
The one people are going to buy anyway:
Superior Spider-man #31 The end of Spider-Ock. The hit series ending and return of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-man.
The on-going Image series to watch:
Mercenary Sea #3 Great story, great art, great colors. Picking up readers each issue, also selling out. This is just the kind of perfect storm that we have seen with early issues of other Image series of value.
The small press gem of the week:
Translucid #1 Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria has put out some great books in the past. Amory Wars, which I never read but sold the heck out of, was very popular. Less popular but a great read was Key of Z. I have faith that this deconstructionist view of super heroes will be great. There is also a 1 in 15 variant available. Not to mention a pretty cool, minimalist, Phantom Variant.
The outside chance:
Ghost Wolf #1Small press book, sold out in advance, good art and story.
Well that is it for us this week. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.

  1. I checked every comic shop in my area the past few days and online and nothing for Invincible 110. Good luck to those that don’t already have it…

  2. just found a copy of invincible 110 about an hour ago.. i read the pervious comments today and gathered that its supposed to be some big deal. i looked over in the invincible section nnd it was just sitting there so i grabbed it.

    1. Your too late, it’s starting to fizzle already. Looks like no one is budging on the BIN and I’ve seen some BIN for only $9.99 or less.. seems the auction style bids are still relatively low as well.

      1. Yeah, this is an example of why it’s fizzled quickly as well, you can still find them on the shelves at comic book stores. The print run might not be huge but it’s still relatively big to make it easier to obtain.
What annoys me is when people use the word “rare” in their auction titles for things that are not rare.
