Each week hundreds of new comics hit the stands, each one has potential. We pick the ones we thing have the best chance of heating up. Here is our picks of the week for delivery 10/8/14:
This is a huge week too.
The pick of the week:
Wytches #1– This is the “no-brainer” pick I know. I know there will be a ton of variants. I know there will be a big print run, but just like Scott Snyder’s other big book, Batman, his fans will come in droves. There is a lot of heat and speculation on it already and all the message boards are a buzz with it.
The New Image #1:
Birthright #1– Sure, there are a ton of new Image series that come out each month. I personally love Joshua Williamson’s stuff, Nailbiters and Ghosted especially, and this new fantasy book looks to continue his hits.
The if you like Afterlife with Archie one:
Sabrina #1– Spinning out of the hit series Afterlife with Archie, comes Archie Comics new horror series. The book looks great and was previewed back in Afterlife #6. If this one takes off the one to find is the SDCC preview in Afterlife with Archie #666
The odd DC one on the list:
Batgirl #35– New Batgirl. Or a reinvention of Batgirl from the “boots up”. Girl comics fans are new money and you will see more books catering to them. These are the books that will be hot that wouldn’t be previously.
That’s it for us, what are you specing on this week?

october faction could be a good one. they’re already limited to 1 at midtown on both covers. annihilator 2 could be big as well.
I think October faction looks great. Larry already picked it so I took it off my list as the pick of the week. I did it because I agree with him on it and not to duplicate

Wytches and batgirl for sure. Sabrina will be for reading, should be a good one though.
Miracleman #12 Huges variant as well. see if you can find it!
Months from now, we’ll still be talking about Wytches, all the others not so much. It’s definitely the long term pick, especially since it has movie or show all over it. 🙂
I smell Circle of Confusion all over it. Skybound equals media deal
Skybound = Kirkman and Kirkman knows people now.. 😉
Kirkman is people now. He is a power player. Circle of Confusion is Kirkman’s production company. (Comic book guy with a production company….)
Yup.. 🙂
This isn’t a skybound book, is it? I thought it just said Image…
Your right, it’s not Skybound. Birthwright is Skybound though. But then again, Kirkman is big wig over at Image, Wytches will still have media deal most likely, if it’s good. 🙂
It’s good I just read it.
Oh, Snyder hardly disappoints.
Birthright is getting good reviews. Maybe I should’ve ordered more than 1 B cover. I got a ton of wytches coming my way!
Thanks to informative websites, customers have more reasons to buy and keep comic stores alive.
I hope they do. I love physical comics, hate digital.
I like digital but I have a physical copy as well. I mostly do this with my Marvel pickups, then I can read anywhere I go with my phone, tablet or computer.
I was not aware that Birthright had a “B” cover by Silvestri until my LCS pointed it out.
Yes and it is sold out
Thank goodness I got one then! LOL
I’m surprised no one said anything about loot crate having an exclusive variant for tbe walking dead 132 for thia months crate. I’m going to order one because loot crate will be worth it alone for the variant & t-shirt. Does anyone think this will be worth orderingan etra to flip or just a waste of time?
Here is the link for the variant
http://m.ign.com/articles/2014/10/07/october-loot-crate-to-include-exclusive-walking-dead-comic
I think any variant will be worth it. My question is hat is the run of the crates. If they sell 5,000 of them they won’t be super rate but I know most loot crate books are solid $40 books most of the time b
