Speculation: investment involving high risk but also the possibility of high
profits.
I have always believed that the icing on the cake of comics is the fact that sometimes they are worth money. They’re entertaining and potentially valuable. I’m a reader first, but have always played the market a bit.
I love investing in modern comics.
Here are my speculator-y picks of the week:
OCTOBER FACTION #1
IDW PUBLISHING
(Wr) Steve Niles (A/CA) Damien Worm
The creative team behind Monster & Madman would like to introduce you to the ongoing adventures of retired monster-hunter Frederick Allan and his family… which include a thrill-killer, a witch, and a warlock. Because sometimes crazy is the glue that binds a family together.
WHY take a chance? This book just begs to be a TV show or movie, Steve Niles & IDW are no strangers to making that happen.
This is rock solid material that is a great long term investment.
NIGHTCRAWLER #7
MARVEL COMICS
(Wr) Chris Claremont, Marguerite Bennett (A) Todd Nauck (CA) Jamie McKelvie
DEATH OF WOLVERINE Aftermath!
* Not so long ago, Nightcrawler was dead.
* Now, with a second lease on life, Nightcrawler struggles to find his place back in the land of the living.
* But now that his best friend, Wolverine, has taken his place in the afterlife, that struggle just got a lot more difficult!
* And he may just find his solace in the last place he (or YOU!) would imagine!
Rated T+
WHY take a chance?
Marvel’s Death of Wolverine #4 has been delayed a few weeks & this tie-in book ships out of sequence.
Retailers are notoriously lazy, most will have simply plugged in their regular Nightcrawler numbers instead of compensating for Marvel’s top selling series of the month.
There will not be a Nightcrawler #7 for every Death of Wolverine set out there, it has a very moderate print run.
This is a quick flip book. Buy a few & pair them with Death of Wolverine #1-3 on Ebay to pocket some quick coin.
PREMATURE SPECULATION!

Take a chance, take a chance, take a chance on me:

Right now, NOBODY cares about Adam-X
Twitter is a great information gathering tool. If you’re serious about modern speculating you should have an account & follow creators & publishers.
Last week Marvel editor Tom Brevoort posted:
@TomBrevoortn Squirrel Girl! Power Pack! Adam X! R*M! Battling Babies! Affectionate X-Men! The 75th SPECIAL literally has it all.
So we know the publisher has plans for him.
Risk the dollar.
