Image Comics is pleased to announce Image Direct, a newly launched mail-order subscription service that allows fans to purchase 12-issue subscriptions to their favorite Image comics and have them delivered straight to their doorstep. Image Direct serves continental U.S. customers only. Subscribe here: http://subscriptions.imagecomics.com/.
Image Direct will allow subscribing readers to receive the latest issues of over 35 titles, including THE WALKING DEAD, SAGA, SEX CRIMINALS, WYTCHES, BLACK SCIENCE, VELVET, RAT QUEENS and more, immediately upon release. Subscribers will receive discounts of up to 30% off and will have the option to subscribe to every available title and receive 35% off.
“Even with all the wonderful work our retailer partners in the Direct Market do, the number one comment we get from fans is they frequently can’t find the Image titles they’re looking for,” said Eric Stephenson, Publisher at Image Comics. “Given that there are fewer comic book stores than ever before, we’re hoping that Image Direct makes our titles available to fans who don’t have easy access to a local comic book store, or whose shop doesn’t carry the full range of Image titles.”
Image Direct launches today. Readers interested in subscribing to the service can find more information on how to sign up here: http://subscriptions.imagecomics.com/.

  1. It’s too bad they don’t offer this on the variant covers. This is great only if you live out in the sticks with no LCS that sells Image titles available.

      1. Yep. They say they put it in bag and board, then wrap with bubble wrap to be placed in envelope. My USPS guy will bend anything to fit in my box, these would come folded in half at my house.

    1. I’m a retailer, and at first I was mad. I really push their books because I believe in the quality of them. But then I remembered how my old GI Joe subscription arrived when I was a kid. It won’t affect me anymore than a giant mail order company. I see people who only read one title like Walking Dead or Saga taking advantage of it.

  2. I’m considering it. The closest shop to my house is a 30-40 minute drive and they wouldn’t start a pull bag for me unless I wanted seven or more comics. The next closest was 70-80 minutes away. I’m currently pulling The Walking Dead and Saga. Every month I’ll pickup a few extra books, but nothing major. While I’d like to support a local shop, that’s simply not an option for me.

    1. I used to live in rural PA, and the nearest shop was 45 minutes away, and Ordered Low on just about everything. There used to be another one closer when I had first moved there but they went out of business & Im not surprised. They also ordered low on everything; literally 2-3 copies of any given book. I had a pull list there, and books were often missing from it, and one day I went in and all of their pull list stuff was gone. They said they just decided to stop doing pulls, and had stopped ordering titles that they were only getting for specific readers (like Image & Indy titles), so they had none. Considering they place their orders in advance, they could have said something sooner. I missed out on a lot of stuff that month; and I never went back; saw a few months later their storefront was empty. I should have known they weren’t going to last. The second time I ever went in there to get my pull, they phrased it “what’s your F$#%ing name again??” Yeah……
That 3 years in PA was Hell not having an LCS. Luckily, I’ve always kept in touch with the one from my hometown & they helped me fill in a lot of blanks later; and I usually still have a pull list for a few books (titles I can hold off on reading until later) there, just to keep supporting them. Luckily down in NC now, I’ve got several shops to choose from, and I favor the smaller one that’s closer to my home.
Side-rant over… Subscriptions? I’ve never had a good experience with that. Every issue arrives damaged; and comics really need to be between thick cardboard. Bubble wrap doesn’t protect against bends, and a backer board doesn’t either. It also has me wondering which titles they will offer these subscriptions for. Maybe it will help us gauge which book will be shipping on time and which vague solicitation is an ongoing or a mini-series; because sometimes I am really liking a book, only to find out later that it’s a 4-issue or 6-issue mini-series & already over…
