Comics Picks of the week for 2/4/15

Each week hundreds of new comics hit the shelves, all with potential. Some live up to that potential. We pick the ones we think have the best shot of heating up. Here are our picks of the week for delivery on 2/4/15:

So who wants to talk comics, I mean other than Spider-Gwen tonight 😉
The Small Press Gem:
Cluster #1– Ed Brisson from Sheltered fame doing gritty Sci-Fi. Imagine picking a dirty dozen to fight the scum of Mos Eisley Canteena, and you kind of get the picture. Longer wars equal more troops needed, which means criminals get to fight. Crazy cool stuff.
The Catch-up book:
Lady Mechanika 0-1 This catch up book gives the full story of the first two issues of this hit series. With the series starting back up, it is not a bad idea to grab early issues. This one is reader copy only, most likely, but these primers can go up too.
The Dark One:
Postal #1– The townsfolk of Eden, Wyoming wake up to the first official murder the town has seen in 25 years. Their reaction to this isn’t normal, and there’s a reason for that. Eden operates as a haven for fugitive criminals who remain here while new identities, often including facial reconstruction, are created for them. There is zero tolerance for any illegal activity that might draw attention to the town and an ‘official murder’ is the last thing they want. A single, tight-knit family runs Eden with the youngest oddball son Mark Shiffron overseeing the postal branch, the only means of shipping in or out of the city. THE FBI has repeatedly been foiled trying to insert an undercover here; they see Mark as the weak link to exploit. This murder gives them a new opportunity.
The New Image #1
Nameless #1– New Grant Morrison sci-fi. Enough said.
The New Old Image #1 (Ok 250)
Spawn #250– Al Simmons is back. Yes. Pricey but big book.
The Return of an Old Favorite
Enormous #6 Trust me, this is a good issue. I know, do not forget to ask about the Comicsheatingup.net Variants. I still have some available. Signed Prints as well (sorry for the plug)
The Pick of the Week!!!
Superman 338– New costume, new powers, selling out everywhere, coverage in major news outlets. Yes, this one will be big!
That is it for us. Let us know what you are spec-ing on.

  1. Yeah, I’m liking Cluster #1 myself since I love Sheltered. Postal #1 might be promising as well.

    1. I’m glad Lady Killer is catching on. I was surprised when it wasn’t an initial sell out. Too early to call of course but I’m thinking this will be on my best of list at the end of the year.

  2. I’m sad with this article. No mention of the most anticipated continuing series out there, SAGA! A new story arch, a gatefold wrap a round cover. I can’t wait!! This has got to be in the picks.
Also, I’m grabbing any superman variants I can find. I think this issue will be a good flip and a great long standing issue for the collection.
    Psst…Humans #4 & Wytches #4…

  3. There’s a pretty sweet CBLDF variant for Nameless on the way too. I think it’s exclusive to CBLDF retailers. Hickman art.
