Wow, so many copies of Spider-Gwen Color Phantoms have sold in the past two days it is amazing. This will be the hottest launch for a Phantom Variant, A regional variant, or a store variant ever (of course the frenzy over the Star Wars #1 Hot Topic Variant does not count as it was or a recalled book.)
If you missed out on the earlier, cheaper copies, you may have missed a good deal. The prices of Spider-Gwen Color Phantoms have started to trend up with all copies listed on eBay now from Phantom Retailers averaging $24.00 Still not a bad price for what is going to be the hottest launch of a variant, and a new series, in a while. Nice to see this is demand based on the character and the art work for a change.

I’m not usually a CGC or other grade send off type of guy but I might actually think about sending the ones I got off to be graded. This one might be the type you get graded to boost it’s value and return value.
That’s what I will be doing. I want to get a black and white and color graded to 9.8 and sell it as a set. Could be a huge return for the first to list on eBay.
FYI, grahams still has the color available, looks like limit to 1 per order. Shipping $5 so even if you buy just one copy, only gonna cost you $14.99 total.
I am sending mine off to be graded. Never done it before, but this one is the one to loose my virginity on. 🙂
My question is, when is the market going to bottom out on these? I mean, it’s a great cover and all. I really like this one. But it was just released and hype is high right now. Who are the people that are going to pay the inflated prices? That’s what’s always vexed me about the spec game – finding the right buyer at the right time.
It wasn’t released. This is pre release. People are scrambling to ensure they get a copy. There are none out there yet.

Right. I meant to say the cover was just released and pre-orders happened. Seems like a lot of hype for a book that’s not out yet. Once it does come out, people are going to try and flip it. My question is- who’s buying at that point?
it’ll likely top shortly after the flood on ebay, then fall a bit, then slowly rise over time as copies are absorbed. this looks like a great cover for the long term.
If a hundred copies sell for $10
Then they are relisted at $13.99
Then relisted for$19.99
Then $25+
Did 400 copies just sell?
Are people relisting the same books and refunding the cheaper sale priced books?
I would imagine so. How many phantom variant dealers are out there? And how many are currently selling copies of these?
I’ve also seen some people on eBay saying the comic “sends a week after release date,” so I imagine they are trying to presell the comic they bought online for $10 and sending it out to others for $24 after they get it in the mail. That way, as Larry asks….how many are actually selling as opposed to being “resold”…?
Either way, with a great cover and being limited to 3000, I’m sure this one is a keeper and will always have great resale value. It will climb in price over the long haul too.
I missed what he meant. So people who bought at $10 are reselling. What ever the case Larry hit a home run with this cover and the book is on fire.
Like any hot book, collectors / speculators buy multiples.
The fisrt wave was $10-$13
I Imagine many of those are now being offered at $20+
( the collector gets his free )
Found out tonight my AH 1:100 preorder was canceled (first time this has happened to me on eBay). At first I was mad but then remembered I didn’t really care for the cover after the image was released. THEN I realized I’ve already bought and paid for this amazing phantom variant which is my favorite. All is good but I’ll wait until they’re all in hand before celebrating!
I’m crossing my fingers this will be a long term hold. With only 3000 copies maybe this will sell like SSM20 JSC one day soon?
