Once again, another Wednesday is upon us. It is like Christmas once a week. New comic book day.
Wednesday
So, has anyone noticed anything funny about e-Bay shipping? I couldn’t print postage for eBay’s international shipping program, which is odd. I sell a lot of books this way and it wouldn’t let me do it.
Also, let us know your weekly pick ups, what you dropped this week, what you saw stacks of sitting on the shelves, and what was just sold out.

  1. Ei8th #1 – I’m not sure bout his writing but I do dig his art for American Vampire, so it’s worth checking out.
    Strain #6 – Getting close to the finale.
    Tooth and Claw #4 – I don’t even usually like these types of fantasy stories but this one still has me interested.
    Bitch Planet #3 – Bitches on a planet in a dystopian future, still has be interested.
    Manifest Destiny #13 – One of my favorite reads still.
    Peter Panzerfaust #23 – Still going.. but if it doesnt’ pick up soon, could be seeing the chopping block soon.
    Rumble #3 – Excellent read so far and I love the art.
    Sparks Nevada #1 – It was one of my picks.. I hope it’s good.
    Captain America #4 – Yeah yeah..
    Black Widow #15 – One of Marvel’s underrated titles currently.
    Star Lord #9 – I love Guardians, I love Star Lord but if this romance boyfriend/girlfriend crap keeps dominating this book, I’m gonna drop it real quick.
    Magneto #15 – The other underrated Marvel title.
    Moon Knight #12 – Another underrated Marvel title.
    Rocket Raccoon #12 – Just good fun.
    Silk #1 – Duh!
    Burning Fields #2 – #1 was interesting, wanna see where it’s going.
    Simpson #218 – I read these when I’m going #2 and they’re great!
    Letter 44 #14 – I think this is still strong and one of the best Sci fi titles currently.

        Tooth and Claw is the same for me, I have never been a fan of anthro animal books/comics but this one is really intriguing
        How many of the 1:25 were u able to grab up?

        1. Only 1 of the Lee variants. The third shop I tried to reserve was too late, they only got around 4 total as well which tells me stores at least in my area under ordered.

        2. Well, only one of the Lee variants at a normal price. I actually bought one last night after I thought I wasn’t going to get one off eBay for a BIN $50. Bought before it goes up any. So I’ll have two total when all said and done. The one I picked up today looks awesome, might be a good candidate to submit for grading. 🙂

      2. That was a smart move, cheapest BIN is 104 dollars, guess I’ll be holding on to mine for the long haul.

    2. I don’t know about you but both shops I visited seemed to under order Silk. I anticipated they would of ordered more. Both did claim they ordered enough Spider-Gwen. I think Silk is being overshadowed by the Gwemaniacs… 😉

  2. Just a quick question, i know the smart money is on ASM #4 1:10 and the Silk #1 1:25, but do you think there’s any future for the Hastings Silk #1 variant? I think there’s 23? different variants for Gwen, yet only a handfull for Silk. Thanks…

    1. The Hastings Silk is nice but I don’t think it’s going to demand as much as the 1:25 Lee Variant will. If you can obtain for cheap, not a bad gamble I think.

  7. First time I went to the comic store on my lunch break on a wednesday, whiffed on the Silk #1 Lee variant…LCS only had one, and I wasn’t the first person in the door. Grabbed a couple of the regular versions (they had around 10-15 reg covers). Glad I have some variants coming in the mail, but it would’ve been nice to get one in hand. reserved a couple hastings variants, which I will pick up after work. busy day, time to get some real work done 😛

      2. I have a corporate job where I work from home. Since I have a reoccurring call every Wednesday at 6 AM, I take a break and head to the shops when they open at 10.

      4. we just moved buildings last month, so I’m about 15 min away from the closest LCS now! decided to try and go on a long lunch today and it worked out pretty well…I need to leave about 10min earlier next week though!

      5. Anthony I am Government also! Go civil servant comic nerds! Went to a new comic shop and got the 1:25 for cover!?! I’ll be going there for good. Anyway, hold our quick flip? Thanks. Love the site.

      6. I’m lucky, closest shop is about 15 minutes away with lights and traffic for me. And the next one from there is literally 3/4 mile down the same street. It’s an easy sweep around on the way to work every Wednesday for me. They both open at 9AM so I’m usually in and out in 30 minutes at both.
        I use to be a contractor for the Department of Defense based out of Ft. Hood. Sadly, I was about a half mile away on base when that nut job killed 13 and wounded many others. Very chaotic day. Other than that, I hate every other minute of that job. (I don’t hate what I actually do, I just hated it there, too much bureaucracy for me).

    LCS had 2 copies of the Silk Lee variant. Picked it up. Saw the $60 price tag. Put it back. Couldn’t pull the trigger on spending that much on a character I’m not personally invested in.

      2. Yup. Buy two of them, sell one at $100 (or more possibly), then you bought your one copy for $20 (the normal 1:25 type of price range). 🙂

    2. $60?! Dang. Thankfully the shops here didn’t jack up the prices. Hope the same can be said for the Spider-Gwen Hughes variant they’re holding for me next week. Midtown wants $200 and that worries me.

      1. Yeah, my usual shop I get my pulls at, he had 3 total. Someone came in night before knowing it was coming out and bargained him to pay that night and pick up today. So I got there first this morning, grabbed his last one. He even noticed they were going for $50-$60 online, said he didn’t jack up his price cause he knows his loyal guys get there first thing each week, wanted us to get a chance at it for $25.

  11. Sadly no new comics for me today. Weather has delayed the books to my local comic shop. They’re supposed to get the shipment tomorrow. We got a decent amount of snow Monday night so I didn’t think Wednesday would be affected but……
    Bitch Planet #3 This comic has been a little heavy handed with the agenda so i’m not sure how long i’ll keep it. I don’t mind a little message with my comic books but there’s a fine line between overly preachy and subtle and this has been on the wrong side of the line for me.
    Eternal #2 I loved the cover on the first issue.
    Goners #5 I could see myself dropping this one sometime soon. I don’t know if it was just me but the last issue was a little confusing to me.
    Kitchen #4 I really like this title. It’s at the halfway point now and I’m looking forward to the end of the ride. I love the art in this book. It really captures the vibe perfectly.

    1. I dropped goners after issue one. Bitch planet I still like but damn if it is not preachy. We got a ton of snow here at Chu central too and one of my lcs didn’t get their books. Thankfully he pulled his silk 1:25 for me when it comes in tomorrow. Where are you located?

      1. Just outside of St. Louis. I didn’t think it was bad enough to stop the local trucks from moving so I’m wondering if problems closer to diamond where to blame? I like Bitch Planet but it’s almost too much. I don’t know if I can stand being hit over the head with a heavy handed message every month. I’m hoping they find a balance soon. Goners is a title that if it was $4 I’d drop. But because it’s only $3 I’ve held on to it. I’ll see what this issue hold and then make my decision for the future.

          1. It’s even more preachy then the last 2 issues and that’s saying something. I don’t feel like it’s even entertaining anymore. I file this comic under “no thinking needed”. There is no subtlety what so ever. I’d be curious what you think after you’ve had a chance to read it.

              1. The female empowerment is there for sure but it’s so blatantly obvious that it requires no thought on the users part. These types of thing are usually much better when the reader has to solve the equation on their own. It feels more like church then a story.

    2. Flip flops? Yeah, I’m jealous, as I sit here it’s 15 degrees outside.
      The thing with Bitch Planet is I see the potential. I really want to like it so i’m being more patient then I would normally be. I’m not sure of the format going forward. They’re going to do a few issues and then take a break by doing profiles of the characters. I’m curious to see how they do it but i’m not sure if profiles are a wise use of my $3.50. We’ll see.

    Bitch Planet #3 – Intersting delve into the character + free world building = awesome issue
    Rumble #3 – Scare-bros original body reminds me a lil of hellboy
    Sparks Nevada #1 got 2 copies for speccing
    Silk #1 – 1 copy in lcs, 8 from midtown online, no 1:25 at any of the local shops within 20 miles, one shop further out ad it but sold it to one of their regular customers. Did preorderONE 1:25 on ebay for 18 bucks a while back. The seller had 5 available I should grabbed em all.
    Burning Fields #2 – like this series and Shaft waaaaay more than I thought I would

    Secret Identities- powers and story have been done before and are kinda meh. Only thing I liked was their team’s swordsman (wanna know her origin/backstory)

      1. I almost did but I haven’t seen any real premium for these. Most of my shops seem to be about 50/50 on the display variants and normal variants so I’ve stopped for the most part.

          1. Yeah, I guess the 3 shops in my driving range all carry them, they’re always plentiful too so if I grab one or the other, I’m good either way. One shop mixes theirs together and don’t care about separating the display from the non display ones.

  14. Oh, one other goodie I picked up was the Dark Crystal Creation Myths Volume 1 TPB. Looks awesome and I love The Dark Crystal.

  16. Hey Anthony, You said the ASM # 4 (2nd print) was low print run? Any idea how many? My lcs has 3 of them 10.00 each ,(60% off) so 4.00 each…solid pickup for sure,correct?

  17. Interesting comments I’ve been reading about Bitch Planet, but I have yet to read #3, to see for myself. Another early sold out book, any comments on how you think Lady Killer is going? I was a little disappointed after reading #2. Seemed kind of forced into developing any storyline interest. Thoughts?
