Here is an obscure one. Marvel’s and later Dark Horse’s Crash Ryan to be adopted into a film.

It looks like yet another Marvel Comics property will soon be making its way to the big screen in what will surely be a magnificent montage of monstrosity. The title of said property? Feel free to start mental drumrolls… Crash Ryan! Are those crickets I’m imagining hearing? Or perhaps that faint scraping sound is attributed to the collective scratching of heads from people pondering the all-too-critical question, “who the hell is Crash Ryan?!” Well, he is a character who once graced the pages Marvel Comics and, thanks to a producer’s recent purchase of the film rights, it looks like he’s getting a movie.
According to a report from Variety, producer, Ryan Heppe has acquired the movie rights to Crash Ryan; a Marvel Comics property started in the mid 1980’s as a miniseries that we can safely classify as “obscure.” However, while it won’t likely have a place in Marvel Studios’ Avengers-centric Cinematic Universe, the title does seem inventive.
Copies of the orginal Crash Ryan series have gone up in price, but if you can find them cheap, now is a good time to sell them.
Heard news about this Thursday nite and found set 1-4 for 2.00 ,also 3 copies # 1 for .50 each. Going to flip as soon as I get them…..
Was able to find a couple of #1’s for $2 each and a set 1-4 for $8. Not bad will probably keep the set for myself and sell the #1’s.
I bought 4 sets at 1.10 each set. Will sell 2; hold 2 in time for movie. It might actually be a big budget movie which makes me want to hold at least 1 set for the future.
I was able to find another set for $4. Since these are low cost (or were) I don’t mind taking the risk since my total investment so far, even with shipping included has been roughly $25 for everything. I think it is a good idea to sell at least one set soon, to cover the cost of the everything and save the rest prior to the movie release. Admittedly, I don’t know much about this guy. Is Marvel planning on fitting him into the Marvel movie universe somehow or is this going to be a stand alone film. Either way, I am actually excited to get these so I can read through a set.
Do not forget the Dark Horse Presents issues. Crash Ryan has a limited number of comic appearances.
That’s true, but I would think for the most part, at least for the mainstream collectors that will jump on early appearances when the film is about to be released will stick with his Epic/Marvel mini series… Unless of course it turns out that some of those Dark Horse books have important elements that make it into the movie. Regardless, getting any of these cheap will most likely pay off at least a little. If anyone that goes on this site missed the boat on getting these early issues cheap I would just move on to the next big thing that will be introduced in the next few days… Seems to be a lot of those lately. Regardless, paying $25 or more for the mini series right now may not pay off too much for speculators if the film is met with mediocre fanfare. I could be wrong and Crash will be the next big thing. Just don’t know with this one. I hope it’s good.
